The year 2023 with Fortnite started with an exciting new chapter and season where players landed on a new island and experienced the latest gameplay built entirely on the latest Unreal Engine 5.1. The graphics supported by the engine made the game look so much better than ever before and also introduced players to various movement mechanics and loot pools.

10 major changes to expect in Fortnite in 2023

1) Creative 2.0

A new era of creating your metaverse will arrive in Fortnite through Creative 2.0. As Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney mentioned, Creative 2.0 will be a completely open sandbox for creators to create their own games, using the full potential of the latest Lumen system through Unreal Engine 5.1.

It will also feature many exciting tools that integrate Unreal Engine's game creation module within Fortnite. This mode will now reportedly hit the game in late March 2023.

2) The Nothing and The Last Reality on the island

After the Chapter 3 Season 4 Fracture event, players thought they had successfully evaded The Herald and The Last Reality when the island collapsed into pieces.

However, the voice lines of the latest set of Oathbound Quests in Chapter 4 Season 1 reveal that Rift Warden Stellan is building the Rift Gate for a Shapeless Man who will kill him and all of Oathbound if he fails to bridge the new island with other realities across the multiverse.

This line hints strongly at The Nothing, who is above all of The Last Reality and is waiting to take their revenge on Zero Point and consume it for their purpose. Maybe in the Fortnite season of 2023, The Nothing and The Last Reality might finally arrive on the island, and loopers will need to battle them again.

3) Return of The Seven

The Seven went missing during Chapter 3 Season 4 when The Herald chromed the entire island. However, there is no sign of either the members or their whereabouts as of now.

Recently, Parts 2 and 3 of the Oathbound Quests hinted that they are in another reality and are in danger of being taken over by a substance, with a shapeless man in control.

Now that AMIE has transferred her consciousness to a robotic body and fled the island to rescue The Seven, it would be interesting to see how the heroes of the loop make a return in 2023.

4) Family Guy collab

The most speculated collaboration in Fortnite might finally arrive soon, in 2023. Peter Griffin and his family from the hit animated TV series Family Guy will enter the loop this year as Epic recently added cosmetic textures and files hinting at the collab. Moreover, fans have started creating concepts relating to the collab, which looks even more realistic than it would in the game.

5) Exciting Competitive Season

FNCS returns this year with a new Major format inspired by COD League. Pros from all over the world will compete in online regional qualifiers throughout the year to qualify for an in-person tournament that will take place in Denmark in late 2023. After a long wait, fans might finally get a tournament close to the infamous 2019 World Cup, and everyone stands a fair chance at competing in open qualifiers.

6) First Person Mode in Battle Royale

The much-rumored first-person mode was finally added to Save the World and Creative game modes in the latest v23.30 update. Moreover, players have recently found a glitch that lets them activate the first-person camera in the STW mode and apply it as their default view mode in Battle Royale matches.

However, the official view mode will soon arrive in Battle Royale later this year as the files have already been added to the game that leakers decrypted earlier this week.

7) New Weapons/Items

While new items constantly arrive on the island with every Fortnite season, this year, players will get to use a variety of new weapons and items around the island that can help them with their gameplay. From the Firefly Launcher to Swords, players can look out for a bunch of new items they can experience while battling their way across the island.

8) More Concerts/Live Events

As Epic has started giving creators the power to make concerts/live events in Creative mode this year, players might also get more artist collaborations using the power of Unreal Engine 5.1 and the upcoming Creative 2.0 in Fortnite.

Players can expect big names like Lil Nas X, the late Juice WRLD, and Harry Styles to appear in virtual Fortnite concerts, as the community has long been demanding the above artists to enter the loop.

9) More movement mechanics

In 2022, players saw the arrival of Sprint and Mantling mechanics during Chapter 3 and the swinging mechanics with the Spider-Man Web Shooters mythic weapon. Also, with the latest Fortnite Chapter 4, players received a Hurdling mechanic and a spinning movement with the Shockwave Hammer that they have been using to traverse the island.

With the upcoming season and chapter this year, players can expect more ways to move around the Fortnite island, such as the underwater diving mechanic first teased in Chapter 2 Season 2's Travis Scott live event.

10) New Map/Chapter

Every alternate season brings out a new map for players to land in and battle their opponents. Players might get a new map or island to land on this year and the rest of the upcoming seasons, or maybe a new chapter towards the end of the year.

Additionally, several hints at a new island were teased in The Kid Laroi live event that the community spotted and speculated might be their new map for the next chapter in Fortnite.
