Fortnite: How to deal damage to opponents with an evolved EvoChrome weapon

EvoChrome weapons have been the center of attention since the start of Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4. What makes them unique is that they can be upgraded without the need for an upgrade station or crafting parts.

All players have to do is deal damage to opponents, NPCs, and wildlife to improve the EvoChrome weapon's rarity. This makes them ideal for aggressive players and those who like to stick to one weapon for the duration of the match.

With Reality Zero coming to an end, the developers want players to make proper use of EvoChrome weapons one last time in-game. Those who manage to deal 150 damage to opponents with an evolved EvoChrome weapon will be rewarded with 20,000 experience points towards their seasonal level in Fortnite.

A step-by-step guide on how to deal damage to opponents with an evolved EvoChrome weapon in Fortnite

1) Find an EvoChrome weapon

There are two types of EvoChrome weapons present on the island. Players can choose between a burst rifle or shotgun. As it stands, the former is a better choice for numerous reasons, the main one being ease of use. With a shotgun featuring a horizontal spread of fire, landing shots are harder than they should be.

That said, players can either find weapons lying about as floor loot or obtain them by searching Chrome chests. If no Chrome chests can be found and if they can't be located via floor loot, players can use Chrome Splash on normal chests to "Chromify” them.

On that note, it's best to find an EvoChrome weapon that's on the lower end of the rarity scale. While this may seem counterintuitive, it's good to remember that the higher the rarity, the more damage has to be dealt to evolve it. Thus, finding an EvoChrome of uncommon rarity is the best option.

2) Evolve the EvoChrome weapon

Only once players evolve the EvoChrome weapon will they be able to progress in the challenge by dealing damage to opponents. Since the challenge is not spelt out clearly, it should be possible for players to evolve an EvoChrome weapon by eliminating wildlife and then proceeding to engage an enemy in combat.

This will save them the trouble of having to evolve the weapon in the heat of the battle. Furthermore, if the opponent is eliminated before the weapon can evolve and damage can be dealt, players will have to search for another opponent.

Once the EvoChrome weapon has evolved, all that's left to do is engage in a gunfight with an opponent. Depending on when and where a player is in their current match, finding opponents who are trying to open vaults should be easy enough to do.

A good strategy is to camp the vault and wait for them to make an exit before opening fire. Using an EvoChrome burst rifle is ideal for this strategy. Alternatively, players can even rush their opponents inside the vault using an EvoChrome shotgun. Without much room to maneuver, they will not be able to dodge the hail of bullets.
