The U19 World Cup is the biennial tournament organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for national teams with players less than the age of 19. The Under 19 Cricket World Cup 2020 edition will be played in South Africa. The tournament will be played over 3 weeks and will comprise of 48 matches including the Final. The Indian U19 team is the defending champions.
16 teams divided into four groups will be participating in the U19 world cup. Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies and Zimbabwe are ICC Full Members. While Nigeria, Canada, United Arab Emirates, Scotland and Japan have earned their places through Qualifiers.
The league stage matches will be played among groups which will be contested from 17 January 2020 to 25 January 2020. It will be followed by the Plate League and Super League. The top two teams from each group will play the Super League and the bottom two will play in the Plate League. The winner of the Plate League final will be placed 9th in the competition table. The final of the Under 19 cricket world cup will be played at the Senwes Park in Potchefstroom on 9 February 2020.
