About Plunket Shield 2023
Plunket Shield 2022-23 is the 94th season of the Plunket Shield, the domestic first-class cricket tournament in New Zealand. The competition will run from 17th October 2022 to 22 March 2023. A total of 27 matches will be played between the six participating teams.
Auckland is the defending champions of the Plunket Shield. The 2021-22 Plunket Shield win was their 28th Plunket Shield win. The other five teams competing in the competition are the Northern Districts, Central Districts, Canterbury, Auckland, and Otago. Auckland is the most successful team in the competition with 23 titles to their name.
All the matches in the competition are 4-day matches. The schedule for the 2022-23 season was confirmed recently. The opening two matches of the tournament are Otago Volts vs Auckland, Central Stags v/s Canterbury, and Northern Districts v/s Wellington.
