After hoping for some action to illuminate the venue post multiple stints by the rain, it turns out to be one of those days. This is Dwaipayan Mukherjee, signing off alongside Darpan Tikiya. We will see you soon!
Poor way to go out for Harry Brook and his men. The flurry of rain has dampened everyone's spirits as Trent Rockets will be focusing their energies for the big clash tomorrow. The forecast will be much better in comparison to what was in store for them today.
This has been a pretty grim day but a result that the Rockets will grab with both hands, owing to their better showing in the group stages. The start of the chase was met with a wide, post which the players were taken off again. When they returned only about 5-10 minutes later, there was another revision to the score and had the game gone ahead, who know if Rockets would have faced the heat of the DLS equations that made it sterner with every rain break. But there are no ifs and buts in the sport. This has been a bit of a bummer.
9:53 PM Local Time, 2:23 AM IST :The match has been called off! Trent Rockets will play Oval Invincibles for silverware tomorrow!
9:43 PM Local Time, 2:13 AM IST : We are starting to wonder what might be the record for the most rain interruptions in a professional cricket match. Trent Rockets go off the field. Northern Superchargers do not want to leave the field.
If this game does not resume in the next 15 minutes, that will be it.
Matthew Potts's New Bowling spell
Tom Banton comes out flying after the target becomes stiffer for his side, thanks to the countless contributions made by the rain gods.
1.0
0.5 Jacob Duffy to Tom Banton, hard length, off stump or thereabouts. Tapped to mid-off.
0.4 Jacob Duffy to Joe Root, back of a length ball outside off. Root's measured pull towards deep square leg for a single. Michael Pepper — substitute, who is keeping wickets — because Dawid Malan is off the field — walked onto the stumps, while trying to collect the ball.
0.3 Jacob Duffy to Tom Banton, good length, outside off. Tapped towards backward point for a run.
0.2 Jacob Duffy to Tom Banton, FOUR MORE! Leg byes called. Banton shuffled to the off side early and the bowler followed him up with a full ball. The batter tried to lap it towards fine leg, but failed to lay bat on ball. However, it still trickled past the keeper's left to fetch him the desired outcome.
0.1 Jacob Duffy to Tom Banton, EDGED FOR FOUR! Shorter side of good length, delivered outside off from over the wicket. Banton slashed hard and the ball flew to the deep third boundary.
9:38 PM Local Time, 2:08 AM IST | Players are entering the arena for the, we have lost count on how many times have they done that over the last couple of hours.
9:35 PM Local Time, 2:05 AM IST | The umpires make their way down the stairs. Covers are coming off. Looks like, we will have a truncated 55-ball run chase.
It will be a 14-ball powerplay.
One bowler will be able to bowl 15 balls.
The others will be able to bowl upto 10 balls.
105 will be the target.
9:26 PM Local Time, 1:56 AM IST: Can you believe it? The rains have returned. The ground staff are running overtime today. Another break will mean a revision of the targets and so many more calculations.
Trent Rockets would not mind walking off. No further action today will lead to their qualification to the final. We are getting word that this is the strongest downpour in the last hour or so.
0.1 Jacob Duffy to Tom Banton, starts with a wide. Full ball speared down the leg side, from over the wicket.
Jacob Duffy's Opening Bowling spell

Tom Banton opening at striker's end
9:25 PM Local Time, 1:55 AM IST: The players are ready for the chase! Powerplay is for just 19 balls and each bowler can bowl a max of 15 balls.
