Being a blocky sandbox game, vanilla Minecraft isn't exactly famous for its graphics. Compared to modern titles, it has simple pixelated graphics with essential lighting. Players coming from high-end games might dislike the indie pixel textures.

The Medieval era is one of the most popular themes in the Minecraft building community. Many texture packs specifically improve the textures of stone and wood blocks to make them better for medieval builds.
