The Create mod for Minecraft is one of the most popular of its kind, allowing you to form incredible automated works of art with a litany of new technological blocks and items. Create is one of the definitive technological mods in the entire community, but it can take a little while to learn the ropes. However, are there any things to keep in mind to help you get started with the Create mod early on?
There are many different ways to approach your first moments in the Create mod in Minecraft. Still, as you start learning the ropes, there are a few things to keep in mind to get the ball rolling for you. Before you know it, you'll be building mechanical marvels in no time.
Getting started with the Create mod for Minecraft
Collecting Basic Resources
Much like in vanilla Minecraft, many of the core resources for the Create mod will be obtained from the natural world, usually through mining ore blocks. This includes iron, andesite, and copper, as well as a healthy dose of the new zinc material found underground which can be mined from zinc ore blocks and smelted into ingots like many other metal types.
There are also andesite alloy and brass ingots, both of which are quite important. The former can be crafted by combining two iron or zinc nuggets and two andesite blocks. For brass ingots, you'll need to make four iron sheets with a mechanical press, combine them with a netherrack block to create a blaze burner, and then use the latter to combine copper and zinc to get the finished product.
While there are a plethora of other components, these resources are the most basic building blocks you'll need to begin with and replenish regularly to get started in this Minecraft mod.
Constructing basic production machines
There is a huge collection of machines to build in this Minecraft mod, but there are a few basics you should be aware of, including:
- Mechanical Presses - Can press and compact various resources placed beneath it and used to make sheets out of various metal ingots that can later be applied to other crafting recipes.
- Mechanical Mixers - Applies shapeless crafting goods and items from mixing recipes into blocks like basins.
- Blaze Burners - Used for various mixing recipes and is also a core component in steam engines and blocks that bulk-smoke/smelt resources.
- Millstones - Grinds various materials like blocks, ores, flowers, foods, and more into their component parts.
To create these blocks, you'll need certain resources, which you usually have to process elsewhere such as with a crafting table or the 1.21 crafter block. This includes:
- Cogwheels - Small cogwheels are created by combining one shaft and one wooden plank block.
- Shafts - Created by combining two andesite alloys or sawing a single andesite alloy.
- Andesite Casings - Created by directly applying an andesite alloy to a stripped wooden long.
- Whisks - Crafted by combining two andesite alloys and five iron sheets.
- Iron Sheets - Created by placing iron ingots into the mechanical press and allowing it to process them into sheets.
Powering your devices with rotational force
While building basic machines is great, you'll need to power them to get things really rolling. Fortunately, the Create mod offers you multiple ways to generate power for your new Minecraft machines, including:
- Hand Cranks - Crafted by combining three wooden planks of the same type and one piece of andesite alloy, and can be turned manually to generate power.
- Water Wheels - Created with eight wooden planks of the same type and one shaft, and creates energy by allowing flowing water to pass through it.
- Windmill Bearings - Created with any wood slab, any stone block, and a shaft, and can be affixed with a sail to generate energy via wind.
- Steam Engines - Made with a copper block, a golden sheet, and andesite alloy, and can convert water into steam to generate rotational force.
All in all, there's much more to the Create mod in Minecraft than what's been outlined here, but knowing the basics of what resources to collect, basic machines to build via your crafting table, and how to build contraptions to power them should put you in a good spot to expand from these humble beginnings.
