The Winter Drop Update is set to arrive in Minecraft on December 3 and will introduce a new, eerie biome called the Pale Garden. The update includes new blocks and crafting options, such as a new wood type, resin-based building materials, and pale moss carpets for decoration.
The biome transforms from a lonely and peaceful, resource-rich area with pale oak wood and pale moss during the day to a spooky landscape at night, filled with glowing eyeblossoms and a new challenging mob called the Creaking.
The eyeblossom flower adds a mystical touch to the environment, reacting to the daylight cycle and interacting with nearby plants. With its blend of eerie ambiance and new mechanics, the Winter Drop promises to bring more horror elements to Minecraft.
Things to do when the Minecraft Winter Drop update comes out
1) Resin farming
One of the features introduced in the Winter Drop is resin farming. Resin is a resource that can be used for crafting resin blocks, smelting into resin bricks, or unlocking orange armor trims for customization.
To begin, summon the Creaking mob by placing a creaking heart between pale oak logs. When attacked, the Creaking emits a faint light pointing toward its hidden heart while forming resin clumps around it. The creaking heart is a crucial item for farming and summoning mechanics.
To collect it, you’ll need a tool with the Silk Touch enchantment: otherwise, it cannot be harvested directly. However, if Silk Touch isn’t available, you can craft a creaking heart using pale oak logs and a resin block. Once you’ve gathered resin clumps, combine nine pieces to craft a resin block.
These blocks can be smelted into resin bricks, unlocking a family of resin blocks, such as slabs, stairs, and walls. Incorporating resin farming into your routine provides a renewable way to gather these resources. This block also unlocks exciting possibilities for creative builds and customization.

2) Collecting the new Winter Drop blocks
The Winter Drop introduces a host of new building materials, perfect for enhancing your creative projects. Pale oak logs and their white planks would work well with modern and minimalistic builds. Collect pale oak saplings in case your base is further away from the biome. Turning all the resources that you need renewable should be the priority.
Similarly, resin blocks and resin bricks bring a vibrant orange hue to your palette, ideal for warm-toned designs. Pale moss, another addition, provides a muted green perfect for landscaping or softening the look of builds. You can spread moss across various surfaces like dirt, stone, or andesite using bone meal, creating an organic look.
