Every Minecraft snapshot that is released either adds new features or improves the existing ones. But sometimes, the changes done to certain aspects of the game can lead to a net disappointment. The community has a lot of say in what works in the game and what does not, and it seems that there’s a new debate in town.

Minecraft changed the iconic sound of the piston in the 24w20a snapshot and the reaction to the change is mixed. X user by the name eckoxsoldier posted a short clip of the piston moving and making a very different sound.

The piston's sound in the snapshot appears to be muted and cleaner compared to the original loud sound. Coming to how other players reacted, some of them disliked this change. X user by the name PossessedFrisk commented saying they hate it.

Another user by the name xLodada commented

‘Not my noise machine!’

This statement was made referring to the characteristic sound of the pistons moving.

However, not all reactions to this change were negative. Some people actually appreciated this change. A Minecraft player and X user, AdonisHytopian commented saying that they like the new sound. Another user, Smash_and_Bash also mentioned the same.

The sound of pistons in Minecraft has become a characteristic sound of the game. The loud thump of the machine has been associated with the movement of the piston and changing it would garner mostly negative responses from the players.

The new piston in Minecraft sounds less like a piston and more like the click of a button or a moving lever. The problem here is that people are so used to the original sound of the piston that changing it will make the overall response negative. We’ll have to wait for the Tricky Trials update to be released officially and find out if they change the sound or not.
