Pufferfish are one of the funniest-looking mobs in Minecraft. They don’t have many uses. But they can come in handy at certain stages of the game.

Minecraft players who catch Pufferfish are usually unsure about what to do with them. Players generally store them in their chests for eternity. But one would be shocked to find out how many uses Pufferfish have.

What are the uses of pufferfish in Minecraft?

#5 - Feeding wolves

In Bedrock Edition, players can use their leftover Pufferfish to feed their wolf pups. Feeding a Pufferfish to a wolf will heal the animal. However, it will not decrease growing rates for baby wolves in the game.

#4 - Fish in a bucket

Many players are unaware that they can scoop a Pufferfish into a bucket. Pufferfish will spawn in groups of 1-4 in warm, lukewarm, or deep lukewarm ocean biomes.

A player can swim up to a Pufferfish and scoop it into a bucket. When they successfully catch the fish, "Bucket of Pufferfish" will appear on the screen. Pufferfish will then be included in the water source block.

Many players will be pleased to know that giving their cat a Pufferfish will make them hop off their chests, beds, etc.

Additionally, Pufferfish decreases the time it takes for baby cats to mature into adults.

#2 - Trading

Master-level fisherman villagers will trade emeralds for Pufferfish.

In Bedrock Edition, fishermen will buy one-to-four Pufferfish for one emerald. In Java Edition, they will only buy four Pufferfish for one emerald.

#1 - Potion of Waterbreathing

This is the most common use of Pufferfish in Minecraft.

When combined with an Awkward Potion inside a Brewing Stand, the player will create a Potion of Waterbreathing. This Potion is precious if the player is looking to raid an Ocean Monument or build an underwater base in Minecraft.
