When is Vibrant Visuals coming to Minecraft Bedrock?

A few months ago, Mojang revealed Minecraft's brand-new visual overhaul feature named Vibrant Visuals. The studio later announced that this feature will first be released to Bedrock Edition, and then to Java at a later date. This visual upgrade will drastically change how the game looks and feels by adding volumetric lighting, shadows, fog, reflections, etc.

What is the Vibrant Visuals feature that releases with the Minecraft Chase the Skies update?

In simple terms, Vibrant Visuals is a graphical update that adds new graphical technologies and makes numerous adjustments to the lighting system and block textures in Minecraft.

It brings realistic shadows, directional lighting, and specular highlights. This makes it possible for the sun and other artificial light sources to throw shadows on any surface. The developers continue to keep the game's vanilla look and feel since the shadows are uniquely pixelated.

Certain blocks will have an additional layer of textures with a few light-reflecting pixels. Each block will gain depth and more detail as a result.

With the visual improvement, emissive textures will be added to a few blocks and creature textures, such as spiders, enderman, sculk, and glow lichen. Certain block pixels and entity eyes will have the ability to glow in the dark.

Screen Space Reflections (SSR) are another significant feature of Vibrant Visuals. Any water block placed in the Minecraft environment will have lovely reflections added by this technique. In addition to adding reflections to the water, Mojang ensured each reflection was pixelated to create a vanilla appearance.

A few days after Mojang announced the Vibrant Visuals, it was added to Bedrock Edition's beta/preview versions. Later on, it was confirmed that Vibrant Visuals will be released with the upcoming Minecraft game drop, which will drop on June 17, 2025. Players will be able to change the graphics settings to Vibrant Visuals and enjoy the stunning change in look and feel.
