Diablo 4 Season 5 introduces Infernal Hordes mode to the game, and it’s a fresh, deadly new challenge. Players will have to hack and slash their way through powerful waves of demons, culminating in a battle with a clash against three members of the Fell Council. While any class can succeed, as well as any build, some are just stronger than others. This list might change or grow, as more builds show off what they can do this season.
No matter how good a build you have, there’s always a chance that even the most powerful class can struggle, with bad positioning, gear, or simply bad luck. These are our favorite builds to go into Infernal Hordes mode in Diablo 4 Season 5.
Note: This list is based on the author's opinion.
Which builds are the most powerful for Infernal Hordes in Diablo 4 Season 5
1) Chain Lightning Sorcerer
Chain Lightning Sorcerer is easily one of the best Infernal Hordes builds in Diablo 4 Season 5. While the late-game loadout may differ from the leveling build, the overall strategy is still basically the same—Chain Lightning and the Axial Conduit Unique. You could probably play without it, but the Axial Conduit unique makes the build much stronger.
You combine it with lots of Barrier, Unstable Currents for attack speed and damage, and a few defensive cooldowns (Ice Armor, Flame Shield, Teleport) to get around and stay safe. This build is amazing at AOE clears, but it does require heavy mana regen, due to the mana-draining nature of Axial Conduit.
2) Barrage Rogue

The class I’m playing the most this season, Barrage Rogue has been a delight when it comes to obliterating waves of enemies. It was one of our top Rogue builds for Season 5, and it can be converted into an Andariel’s Rogue build with the right gear. Barrage Rogue is generally a great deal of fun, and it’s mobile, thanks to Dash and Shadow Step and a pair of imbuements: Cold and Shadow.
This is a build that requires you to be pretty close to enemies, to make sure as much of the Barrage hits the enemy targets, so you also want strong defensive stats. This allows you to not only smash waves of enemies but to down bosses in incredibly short order.
3) Minion Necromancer

I was honestly torn when it came to which Necromancer build really fit the most. There’s an argument to be made for Infinimist and Bone Storm. Both are incredibly powerful. However, thanks to the patch notes, there’s a little something for Minion Necromancer that I think will make the build way more powerful. Honestly, Minion Necro is pretty similar to Infinimist for Diablo 4 Season 5’s Infernal Hordes. You’re running Blood Mist, Decrepify, and Corpse Tendrils alongside your summons.
What makes Minion Necromancer so strong in Diablo 4 Season 5 was the update/buff to Aspect of the Great Feast. While your minions drain 1-2 Essence a second, they deal 11%-125% bonus damage. That is an incredible amount of value; whether fighting enemy packs or bosses, they’ll shred foes to pieces.
4) Companion Druid

I imagine Wind Shear Druid will also do just as well as Companion Druids will in Diablo 4 Season 5’s Infernal Hordes. Wind Shear is just…so incredibly boring. There are a few ways to play Companion Druids in Season 5, but we prefer to focus on Werewolves and Poison Creeper, alongside general companion damage buffs.
You have Debilitate when things are getting dangerous, and should use Maul for the Bestial Rampage Buff. You also want to consider Shred for general mobility and for other pair-ups/buffs. It’s truly a powerful build, though not as strong as it was on the PTR—that was a bug.
5) Rend Barbarian

I’m a huge fan of Rend Barbarian, and I’m glad to see it still thriving in Diablo 4 Season 5. This build is a little on the heavy side though - you need some intense Uniques. Rage of Harrogath, Fists of Fate, and Ring of the Ravenous are necessary. You also need Aspect of Giant Strides/Conceited Aspect. However, it’s still very much a Rend/Rupture build, with Iron Skin for defense.
You also, naturally, run Rallying Cry and War Cry in this build. It feels like no Barbarian build is complete without them. This build also uses Two-Handed Axe Technique for the Vulnerable damage it grants. If you set Rend to two-handed slashing, and Rupture to two-handed slashing as well, you’ll be right and ready to deal tons of damage.
This build has incredible AOE clearing potential, alongside strong DOT damage. It’s not as fast as some of the other builds, but it’s certainly fun, satisfying, and safe.
