Diablo 4 Season 5 is almost here, and many players are talking about what’s going to be the most powerful class. While it’s easy to presume that Barbarian builds will eventually hold this title, that may very well not be the case in Season of the Infernal Hordes. Barbarians are undoubtedly going to be powerful, in our opinion; however, one other class will almost surely stand above all others.
Judging by the new uniques, PTR/Patch Notes changes, and general vibe, Diablo 4 Season 5’s champion is going to be the Rogue. While we’re not 100% sure about the top build, we’ve narrowed it down a bit. So without further ado, let's learn more about what we think will be the strongest class in the upcoming Diablo 4 Season 5.

What will be the most powerful class/build in Diablo 4 Season 5?
During the Diablo 4 Season 5 PTR, the top build was easily Penetrating Shot Rogue. While some other builds came close, like Rapid Fire, it felt like Rogues were winning the day. Using the Crowd Control options on tap, alongside gear that prioritized bonus damage to Crowd-Controlled enemies, they could defeat even the strongest enemies without much fuss.
This is also partially due to the Ring of Starless Skies, which recently got a buff ahead of Diablo 4 Season 5. It’s pretty easy to get a Mythic Unique of your choice in the current seasonal content and as such, the Ring of Starless Skies shouldn't take a tough grind. Penetrating Shot Rogue felt like it was doing more damage than any other class going into the actual live service state.
Another reason that Rogue feels like it will top the charts in Diablo 4 Season 5, is its Key Passives. It’s one of the rare classes that doesn’t feel like their Key Passives aren’t quite as strong. Sure, Victimize was changed, but it in no way will make the class feel weak or useless. Moreover, Rogue Key Passives don’t appear to have damage caps on them, either.
For example, with Precision, the more Critical Strike damage you have, the bigger the damage bonus will be. Victimize is similar, with Vulnerable damage. Overall, it feels like a really great time to be a Rogue. After several seasons of arguable mediocrity, it finally appears to be their time to shine.
While making our pick, we've also taken into account how incredibly strong Poison felt on the PTR, implying that Poison Rogues could go a long way in the game. As always, we'll have to see how things shake out on the retail servers, but we're undoubtedly excited about the possibility of playing a Rogue this season.
It’s worth pointing out that the raw damage that Rogues have in the upcoming season may not be where it was on the PTR. There’s always time for the developers to change things. But for our money, it certainly looks like the Passives and items just benefit Rogues the most right now.
