Ultimate characters in The First Descendant are enhanced/improved versions of the standard cast of characters. Think of these as a prestige thing - a way to show your love for a particular character. The Ultimates are only slightly better compared to their regular counterparts, but they do feature amazing new cosmetic skins that tempt players to unlock them. That said, it’s going to take you a significant amount of work to get them, unless you want your wallet to do the grinding.
The Ultimate characters take a significant amount of work to unlock in The First Descendant. There are several parts to grind out, as well as a Blueprint. Once you’ve attained all the parts for an Ultimate, you also have to spend a mountain of gold and wait for a specific amount of real-world time until it’s finally yours.
It’s worth pointing out that each of these also needs a Blueprint, in addition to the other parts. To learn which Amorphous Material pattern might drop these, go to your Journal > Access Info > Descendants > Ultimate of your choice, and then press ‘F’ on the blueprint you’re after. Unlike regular Descendants, blueprints of Ultimate characters are rarer and more likely to be locked behind Hard Intercepts or Hard Void Fusion Reactors in The First Descendant.
