Destiny 2 could turn into a grind fest for New Lights in Season 23

Bungie will be incorporating a lot of changes in Destiny 2 Season 23, one of which includes the vaulting of Legendary Shards. These shards have been a primary currency in the game and were used for purchasing and crafting new weapons. With these changes, it's understood that Glimmer will be the only currency in the game.

While it's primarily meant for purchasing bounties in the game, players can also use Glimmer to buy Aspects and Fragments for the different subclasses. This could pose a problem for beginners, who are also referred to as New Lights in Destiny 2 Season 23.

Lack of Glimmer farming methods could make the Destiny 2 grind extremely difficult in Season 23

As pointed out by players on Reddit, the cost to unlock all Light subclasses on one class stands at 1,415,000 Glimmer. The post further elaborates on the cost of unlocking Stasis. The only exception to this rule is Strand, which requires players to spend Strand Meditations.

While veterans have access to all subclasses, including their Aspects and Fragments, beginners will struggle to unlock these items due to the lack of proper Glimmer farming methods.

While Rainmaker can always increase Glimmer drop rates, it might not be sufficient for those looking to quickly farm the currency. Not to mention, there's also a limit in place, which restricts the amount of Glimmer that can be accrued in Destiny 2.

While it's unclear how Bungie plans to modify these bits in the new season, some changes are imperative to slightly simplify the grind for new players. There's a high chance that the limit on the currency could get removed. That said, it's hard to speculate.

Over the past few seasons, Bungie has introduced several changes for Destiny 2. Moving into The Final Shape expansion, developers will revamp the yearly roadmap itself. Players have appreciated some of these changes while expressing disappointment over the others.

Since around two weeks remain in the current season, the developers will soon share a blog post detailing all the currency changes in Season 23. It will be interesting to see how they mitigate the emphasis on Glimmer in the new season.
