Make progress in the game and finish the Second Trial of Aql. This will unlock two items for you to craft: The Handheld Resource Scanner and the Static Compactor. You can take these tools and explore the sands with the help of an Ornithopter.
As you fly close to the desert's surface, continuously use the Handheld Resource Scanner to scan the ground. Eventually, you may get lucky and discover a cache logo resembling a diamond. This is where the buried treasure is in Dune Awakening.
Get down to this spot and use your Static Compactor to uncover it. This will likely also attract sandworms, so you must be quick.
Collect all the items and flee on the Ornithopter.
