Dune Awakening player makes totally-safe Shai-hulud summoning altar with oddly specific bug

Dune Awakening bugs, like any other MMO, can feel terrifying and frustrating, but Redditor u/shadowclaw2000 made the best of one by creating a “Shai-hulud summoning altar.” This could create some fantastic roleplaying possibilities. This player can effectively summon a titanic sandworm anytime they want, though it’s unknown if this bug will get fixed. It can’t hurt anyone unless they walk too close.

It’s an oddly specific Dune Awakening bug, where anything placed on a specific tile will immediately summon a sandworm to pop up and will consume anything standing there.

Redditor creates amazing “Shai-Hulud Viewing & Worship Area” thanks to Dune Awakening bug

While it’s likely this bug will eventually get fixed, it’s one of the more fascinating things I’ve seen in Dune Awakening so far. u/shadowclaw2000 noticed that, despite building in a safe place, there’s a panel of the base that, should they build anything there, a sandworm (Shai-hulud) will show up and eat anything present.

It led to many suggesting that the player build a cathedral on the second floor of their base so that people can come bask in his ability to summon the Shai-hulud. One of the devs did reach out about the bug, likely because there are possibilities that this could be exploited in PVP zones. If a player can summon a sandworm spawn at will, their base would be pretty safe from incoming attackers.

The Redditor in question ultimately did create a gorgeous “Shai-Hulud Viewing & Worship Area” in their base. It looks incredible, and to summon the mighty sandworm, all they have to do is place a wall tile in one specific place on the second floor. What’s interesting about this is that it only triggers on the second floor.

Some commenters noted that the sandworm left behind a bike, but unfortunately, that’s not the case. All that happened was that the player left their bike on the first floor, and somehow, the sandworm moved the bike up to the second floor.

It’s a very silly story, and while it will sooner or later be patched, I love this idea. I can only imagine how harrowing it was the first time it took place. For now, though, this player, and anyone else who experiences the bug, can effectively be a Priest of Shai-hulud and summon a sandworm at will.
