Dune Awakening Sietch lock: Can you move your character between servers and Sietches?

Dune Awakening combines multiple genres, but the game is ultimately an MMO title. This means your entire progress is saved on dedicated servers. Most MMO games do not allow players to transfer characters from one server to another, and the same is true for this one. Once you make a character in Awakening, it is bound to that server.

However, you are free to take your character across any of the available Sietches while retaining all the progress. In the following section, we will further break down what can or cannot be done with a character from a particular server.

Characters made in a particular server are permanent and cannot be moved to another server. For example, if you create a character in an Asian server and level up, that character cannot be migrated to European or North American servers.

This means if you want to play together with friends, you need to be on the same server. This is why selecting a server close to your location is important. Picking a server far from you can also cause latency issues and likely degrade your gaming experience.

Note that the game allows you to play across different servers, but you’ll need to create a new character and start from scratch each time.

Characters can move between Sietches

Sietches act like server instances and can hold a limited number of players at a time. Each server contains a large number of Sietches, and since the player capacity is limited, you are allowed to take your character to a completely different one.

Not only can you enter a different Sietch, but you’ll also retain the character progression. This makes joining friends on the same server effortless, as you can enter the Sietch they are currently playing on. Since it is an identical world, you can progress normally in it too.

There is, however, a small limitation. Once you claim land to build a base on a particular Sietch, you aren’t allowed to do the same anywhere else. This means you can join your friend on a different Sietch and progress through the game as usual, but you won’t be able to build a personal base there.
