Will Path of Exile 2 have crossplay? Cross-save and cross-platform features explored

The notion of MMOs like Path of Exile 2 having crossplay sounds like it would be a given, but this isn’t always the case. Some games struggle with this concept, or the developers don’t feel like it’s important. Even in free-to-play games, these concepts are important, and doubly so for games like Path of Exile. It’s an MMO with a rich, deep skill system, and you need to do a great deal of planning and item farming for builds to be successful.

Fortunately, players won’t have to stress about crossplay in the MMO going forward — the crossplay options are solid. It’s already confirmed that the game will have both cross-save and cross-platform — play anywhere, anytime, and with anyone when the Path of Exile 2 drops later this year.

Path of Exile 2 will have both crossplay options to make the game incredibly accessible

Path of Exile 2 will 100% have crossplay — both cross-save and cross-platform gameplay are enabled at launch. This is one of the most important things about the game — more important than the 12 character classes, and the new and improved skill system.

Even if it is a free-to-play game, players would want to play with their friends, regardless of what console or platform they are active on. If you primarily play on PC, but head to visit a friend and they have a PS5, you can introduce them to the game easily. It even has a couch co-op, so two players can play on the console together at the same time.

You don’t have to worry about starting over, purchasing additional licenses, or any of the other trappings that some other games will make you do. Diablo 4 makes you purchase the game separately on each platform, though it also has crossplay/cross-progression.

This is a major improvement over the vanilla Path of Exile, which does not have crossplay — the only exception is PC and Mac players, who can co-exist. PlayStation and Xbox users cannot play together, though that won’t be the case with the sequel game.
