Aleksandar Kolarov: A Brief Biography

Aleksandar Kolarov is a Serbian professional association football player, who plays for Manchester City and the Serbian national team as a left back. He is popular for his overlapping runs on the wing and ball striking ability with a talent for free-kicks. In 2011, he was adjudged as the Serbian Player of the Year 2011. Aleksandar\'s football career started in the Red Star Belgrade youth system where he spent five years in the club. Aftyer this, he signed a three year contract with top-tier Serbia-Montenegro League- Čukarički, making 27 appearances, eventually transferring to top-tier league club OFK Beograd in February 2006. In 2007, Kolarov joined the Italian side Lazio for a four-year contract that amounted to €925,000 and made 82 appearances and six gols for the club. Aleksandar Kolarov received a new offer from Manchester City for £16 million and sealed the deal on July 24th, 2010. On 18 January 2011, Kolarov scored his first goal for the club in a 4–2 victory over Leicester City in the FA Cup. Kolarov has won the Serbian Player of the Year 2award in 2011 and was deemed to be the next cannon ball.
