Alex Albon: A Brief Biography
Junior Career
Alex Albon had a very impressive junior career as he made his way through different categories. In Formula Renault 2.0, he spent a couple of years getting used to the car and was 3rd in the championship in his second season. While his F3 campaign was not as impressive, his GP3 campaign where he challenged Charles Leclerc right down to the last race caught everyone's eye. In Formula 2 as well, Albon took a year to get used to the car and the racing in that category. In his second season he was once again 3rd in the championship, just narrowly missing out on Lando Norris' points tally who finished second.
Formula 1 Career
Torro Rosso(2019)
Alex Albon was picked up by Red Bull's Helmut Marko as soon as his F2 season was done for a seat at Torro Rosso. The driver made his F1 debut in 2019 as a Torro Rosso driver alongside Daniil Kvyat. In a surprising turn of events, Alex Albon was promoted to be a Red Bull driver after just half a season as the team ran out of confidence for Pierre Gasly.
Red Bull(2019-20)
The 2019 F1 season was a decent one for Albon as there wasn't much expectation from him. He did a decent job and almost scored a podium in 2019 in Brazil. The 2020 F1 season with Red Bull however was a Baptism by fire for Albon. He was expected to at least be competitive against Max Verstappen. The season however did not pan out that way. The driver was unable to adapt to the Red Bull and could not get the kind of results that Max would. After a year spent with Red Bull and having a string of disappointing results to show for it, Albon was let go.
Williams(2022-Present)
The driver spent a year on the sidelines and was picked up by Williams for the 2022 F1 season. The shot with the team has been a godsend gift for Albon. He's been able to express himself within the team and perform at a very high level. The 2022 F1 season saw him totally eclipse teammate Nicholas Latifi. That led to the Canadian losing his seat as well. The 2023 F1 season has been no different. Latifi has been replaced by Logan Sargeant an F2 graduate. Albon has been able to dominate his new teammate in pretty much the same manner. So much so that the driver is rumored to have been approached by multiple teams already this season.
