Background

His family has a decent wrestling background. He is the nephew of WWE Hall of Famer Carlos Colon Sr. His cousins, Primo Colon and Carlito Caribbean Cool, are also well known wrestlers who have turned out for the WWE.

Epico History

Epico began his professional wrestling training at Dan Severn’s Michigan Sports Camps and soon started competing in the Price of Glory Wrestling promotion. He also simultaneously appeared for independent promotions such as Hybrid Pro Wrestling and Independent Wrestling Association Mid-South.

In 2006, he decided to join World Wrestling Council, a wrestling promotion owned by his uncle, Carlos Colon Sr. At WWC, Epico operated under the ring name Fire Blaze. He went on to win the WWC Puerto Rico Heavyweight Championship, his first ever title. In the following six months, he dropped and recovered his title twice. While at the promotion, Epico developed an intense feud with Ray Gonzalez which revolved around the WWC Universal Heavyweight Championship. Prior to signing with WWE in 2010, he won the Puerto Rico Heavyweight Championship again. In his final days with the company, he also won the WWC Caribbean Heavyweight Championship. During his stint with WWC, Epico also turned out for Pro Wrestling Zero1, which is based in Japan.
