The Gritty and Glacial Special Research Story will be an extra perk available on Sandshrew’s Community Day in Pokemon GO. This Community Day will feature quite a unique Pokemon. For six generations, Sandshrew has been a Ground-type.
When trainers got to visit the Alola region, though, they found a new Sanshrew that was Steel-type and Ice-type, congregating around Mount Lanakila on Ula'ula Island. Both will be featured in this upcoming Community Day and its evolution Sandslash.
Special Research available for Pokemon GO Community Day
The Gritty and Glacial Special Research Story will only cost trainers 1.00 USD. Trainers will have to go through the shop and scroll down to find the Gritty and Glacial option to purchase it.
While the ticket should be purchased beforehand, trainers won’t be able to start the Special Research Story until the day of the event. Sandshrew Community Day will take place on March 13 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM local time.
Regardless of whether they purchase the Gritty and Glacial Special Research Story or not, all trainers will be able to catch plenty of Sandshrew on that day.
Both Kanto and Alola versions will be roaming the wild, so trainers will have plenty of opportunities to catch them. Furthermore, they each have a chance at being shiny when found in the wild.
Sandshrew’s evolution, Sandslash, will also be getting a couple of new attacks added to its movepool during the event. Kantonian Sandslash will get the Dark-type move Night Slash, while Alolan Sandslash will be receiving the Ghost-type move Shadow Claw.
The usual Community Day bonuses will also be active during this event. Lure Modules and Incense will stay active for three hours, and Eggs will only need to be walked a quarter distance to be hatched.
Aside from the Gritty and Glacial Special Research Story, trainers can also purchase a Community Day bundle that will grant 30 Ultra Balls and an Elite Charge TM, among other things.
