Hoopa Unbound set to appear in Pokemon GO Dual Destiny

Hoopa Unbound is due to make its hotly-anticipated return in Pokemon GO with the upcoming Season of Dual Destiny. The Gen VI Mischief Pokemon's alternate form has been conspicuously absent in-game since its last appearance in Elite Raids in December 2022.

In the mainline series, Hoopa can change its form using the Prison Bottle. The Unbound form features a Psychic- and Dark-type combination. In Pokemon GO, the alternate form debuted in November 2021 as part of Mischief Unbound Special Research, later appearing in Elite Raid Battles next year.

The Dual Destiny trailer revealed Hoopa Unbound in all its glory around the 0:22 mark. The earlier-released teaser already had the fans on alert, with the developers using Hoopa's golden hoops to transition between scenes. In the full trailer, Hoopa Unbound hovers over a Pokemon GO Gym as Zekrom and Reshiram fly towards it.

For those needing a recap, Hoopa Confined needs 50 Hoopa Candy and 10,000 Stardust to change itself to the Hoopa Unbound form. To change it back, trainers need 10 Hoopa Candy and 2000 Stardust. Changing Hoopa's forms is exclusive to trainers who completed the second step of the Mischief Unbound Special Research questline.

This means, that even if trainers can get their hands on the Unbound form, they won't be able to change it to the Chained form unless they meet the aforementioned requirement. Hoopa debuted in September 2021 and was only available as part of the Misunderstood Mischief questline.

The Hoopa Unbound Elite Raid's previous schedule is as follows:

• December 10, 2022
• November 13, 2022
• October 16, 2022

These would take place at 11 am local time, 2 pm local time, and 5 pm local time with 30-minute raid time. It remains to be seen how it arrives this time in Season of Dual Destiny and whether the same Elite Raids will play host to it. Hoopa Unbound is a decent force to reckon with in Pokemon GO and trainers will surely not want to miss out on the chance of nabbing this rare creature on its return.
