On November 26, 2024, official Pokemon GO social media channels shared a short video clip teasing the upcoming season. The end of the video revealed that Dual Destiny will be the name of the phase that will kick off on December 3, 2024, at 10 am local time. The 11-second-long video showcased little but contained enough hints to let netizens start speculating on what could be in store for players after Max Out ends.

This article sheds more light on the Pokemon GO Dual Destiny teaser.

Niantic is known to drop cryptic hints in its trailers. However, these are pretty easily discernable. That said, the Dual Destiny teaser clip leaves a lot open to interpretation. It simply showcases four different places at different times of the year, possibly showing the four seasons.

The first shot is of spring, with cherry blossoms in full bloom. The second shot shows summer, with lush green trees and bright blue skies. The third and fourth shots are also classic homages to autumn and winter, with red-orange foliage and snow-covered buildings, respectively.

The two potentially hidden hints in the teaser are:

  • Return of Hoopa.
  • Introduction of Shiny Deerling.

Hoopa (Confined and Unbound) were both released in 2021, with the former being available only once via a Special Research quest and the latter being locked behind Elite Raids.

The Pokemon GO Dual Destiny teaser had transitions based on golden hoops, making it appear as if the camera was teleporting from one point to another. Hoopa's character design involves both the golden rings and the concept of teleportation. Therefore, the return of this Mythical Pokemon, particularly in its shiny form could be a key highlight of the upcoming season.

The Deerling family — which has four forms, each based on a season — was introduced during The Seasons Change, Season of Celebration, and Season of Legends over the course of October 2020 - March 2021. It is one of the last remaining Unova region Pocket Monsters to not have their shinies released in Pokemon GO so far.

With the Dual Destiny season lasting until March 2025, it will probably include the upcoming GO Tour event as well. Given the trends, it will be the Unova region's turn, making it the perfect opportunity to release Shiny Deerling.
