Pokemon Horizons Episode 65 picks up right where Episode 64 left off, with Liko trapped with Amethio of the Explorers in a cave while Roy and Dot are intercepted by Coral and Sidian. As our primary hero and villain attempt to escape their situation, Friede and even the gym leader Grusha arrive on the scene to lend their hands in the rescue effort.
While Liko and Amethio are stuck together, they might just learn a few things about each other. Plenty went down in this entry of the series, so it doesn't hurt to examine it with a Pokemon Horizons Episode 65 recap.
Recapping Pokemon Horizons Episode 65 "Liko and Amethio"
Picking up from the end of Pokemon Horizons Episode 64, Liko and Amethio find themselves trapped in a cave on Glaseado Mountain due to the conniving of the Explorers Spinel and Chalce. Terapagos has awoken from its prior ordeal and shouts at Amethio, who manages to calm it down by stating he has no intentions of stealing it right now. Liko then feels remorse for worrying Dot and Roy again.
Over at the mountain cabin, Coral and Sidian are facing off against Roy and Dot. The latter two try to use Fuecoco and Quaxwell to find an escape route, but they're cut off by Sidian's Garganacl and Coral's Glalie. The battle continues and Sidian tells Coral to use restraint, but the latter says that stalling isn't her style, leading Roy and Dot to realize the two Explorers are trying to waste our heroes' time.
A heavy blow from Quaxwell staggers Garganacl, but the Rock-type Pokemon uses Recover to restore its strength, and Chalce continues to watch the battle from far away. Back in the cave, the temperature is dropping, so Floragato and Ceruledge begin to provide heat for their trainers using grassy fibers and fiery blades respectively to create a campfire for the two Pokemon Horizons youths.
Amethio proceeds to ask Liko why she hesitated after he Terastallized Ceruledge when they last battled, and Liko explains that she failed her Terastal Training test against Grusha. Amethio ponders if one setback is enough to keep her from reaching her goals, and Liko says that she won't give up. She still wants to reunite Terapagos with Lucius' Six Heroes and the strange realm of Laqua.
Liko then thanks Amethio for saving her during the confrontations with the Black Rayquaza, but he states that it wasn't his intention. Our Pokemon Horizons hero points out that even though the Explorers are evil, there's something different about Amethio. She asks why Amethio needs the Rayquaza and Terapagos, and he says they're for his grandfather Gibeon, the leader of the Explorers.
According to the cold Pokemon Horizons antagonist, Gibeon aims to enter Laqua on his own. Rayquaza and Terapagos are the keys to doing so, and he wants to fulfill his grandsire's dream to live up to his expectations. Liko realizes that the two are both on a path to Laqua, and Liko believes that the two don't have to be enemies, thankful that he's opened up to her somewhat.
A draft blows through the cave which Amethio notices is coming from the roof. Ceruledge and Floragato fly to the roof with Amethio's Corviknight and attempt to break open some gaps, but inadvertently cause debris to almost fall on Liko before Hattrem saves her with its psychic powers. Pokemon Horizons Episode 65 then transitions back to Roy and Dot's battle against Coral and Sidian.
Coral decides to have her Glalie use Self-Destruct, but before she can, the Ice-type Pokemon is struck by a Moonblast, with the user being revealed to be Grusha's Altaria. Grusha arrives to battle the two Explorers, but they are called to retreat by Chalce. Roy and Dot thank Grusha, who states that he heard about Liko's disappearance after a call with Friede.
Back at the cave, Liko and Amethio successfully create an opening and escape the cave. Amethio warns Liko that Spinel is up to something dangerous with the strange Eternal Blessing crystal. Liko suggests that the Explorers and Rising Volt Tacklers work together, but Amethio refuses, stating that the two groups may be heading to the same place, but their paths are far different.
Amethio departs as Spinel's Beheeyem watches overhead. Meanwhile, the other members of our Pokemon Horizons hero trio are following Grusha to where they lost contact with Liko. Altaria breaks a nearby boulder, revealing Liko who is finally reunited with her friends as Friede watches proudly overhead. The heroes reconvene at the cabin from Episode 64.
Liko thanks Grusha for his help and states that Terastallization isn't the only path to reach her goal and that she won't give up. Friede asks Liko what Spinel is doing in the mountain range, and she tells Friede about the Eternal Blessing causing Spinel's Umbreon to grow feral. Friede states that the Eternal Blessing is also known as a material called Laquium, and it is a substance from Laqua itself.
Liko recalls that Terapagos transforming into its Stellar Form caused the Laquium to disappear, and Friede tells our Pokemon Horizons protagonist to keep an eye out for the Explorers on their travels again. Dot and Roy suggest that the group return to Naranja Academy, and Liko agrees, but not before the kids reach the Glaseado Mountain summit together and take a picture for the occasion.
Elsewhere, Amethio returns to Explorers HQ and joins a meeting among the other Explorer administrators, wondering what's going on. Spinel and Chalce remark that Amethio betrayed them as Hamber provides footage of Amethio and Liko escaping the cave. Amethio points out that Spinel trapped them in the cave in the first place, and Coral and Sidian seem to agree before Gibeon interjects.
Gibeon expresses disapproval of his grandson's perceived failures, remarking that Amethio is straying from the path just like his father. The Explorers' kingpin expels Amethio from the sinister group and states that he never wishes to see his grandson again, closing out Pokemon Horizons Episode 65.
