Amidst controversies with the show's actor Antony Starr, Amazon Studios has dropped The Boys season 3 teaser. The clip featured interesting plot points from the upcoming season and showcased a plethora of new characters, with a significant focus on Jensen Ackles' Soldier Boy, as was expected.

Another crucial revelation in the teaser was Butcher and potentially some members of his group taking a version of Compound V that gives them certain powers. In the series, he appears to gain the same powers as Homelander. However, it is likely that Homelander is still the most powerful character in the show's universe, perhaps with the exception of Becca's son Ryan.

As expected, the teaser promised much gore in the upcoming season, with heads and bodies exploding with blood. It also promises extremely weird instances of s*x scenes and fetishes.

Easter eggs and theories spawned by The Boys season 3 teaser

Billy Butcher gets powers - Was it the same in Garth Ennis' comics?

The trailer heavily featured Karl Urban's Billy Butcher getting his own powers after taking a version of the Vought-developed Compound V drugs. While in the comic runs, Butcher injects the entire team with the Compound V, his own powers from the drug have never been this potent.

In the series, the character has similar powers to that of Homelander, which enables him to go toe-to-toe with the latter. However, in the comics, Butcher's powers were only limited to enhanced strength. Unlike Hughie's run in the comics, Butcher never develops extreme superpowers like those teased in the clip.

In the series, along with Butcher, others may also gain powers through Compound V. If the show ends up following the comics for this aspect of the plot, then Butcher would inject the entire team barring Kimiko with the Compound V.

The comics showcased Hughie getting powers like enhanced strength and durability, with which he accidentally ended up killing Blarney Cock, who was a member of Teenage Kix.

Similarly, Mother's Milk also gets the powers of enhanced strength, agility, superhuman stamina, and durability. Meanwhile, in the comics, Frenchie also gets powers of enhanced strength and an enhanced sense of smell.

Soldier Boy

Like DC's Peacemaker, the character is a pure parody of Marvel's Captain America. In the comics, Soldier Boy leads a group called Payback, which is also the title of the first episode from The Boys season 3. Thus, it is likely that the first episode will introduce viewers to the character's backstory and deal with the origins in World War 2.

The comic showcases Soldier Boy's claims to be a World War 2 veteran, which is disputed by Butcher, who does not believe him. The character has powers like enhanced strength, speed, and agility. He is also quite adept at throwing his shield like Captain America.

In The Boys series, Soldier Boy is showcased as being in cryostasis like Steve Rogers in MCU. However, the upcoming season appears to have significantly changed the character, he character is showcased as a coward in Amazon's show.

Soldier Boy is expected to be in the ploy by Vought International to challenge Homelander in his leadership position. With such power dynamics between the two, it is unlikely that the character would have to sleep with Homelander, as in the comics. In Garth Ennis' The Boys comics, he also tried to become a member of the Seven.

Victoria Neuman's reveal

The Boys season 3 will also deal with Victoria Neuman's reveal to certain characters, as none of the main characters know about her secret powers. Hughie is expected to be the first person to figure it out.

Victoria's character is based on Victor Neuman from the comics, who was the former CEO of Vought International. The character also ends up being the vice-president of the United States and is referred to as the "Vic the Veep."

In the The Boys series, Victoria Neuman may get to have a similar career in the United States government.

New Characters

The new The Boys clip teased a plethora of new characters like The Countess, Tek Knight, Supersonic, and Teenage Kix. The Crimson Countess seems to be a play on Marvel's Scarlet Witch. Her comic book origins include powers like laser eyes, pyro (fire) manipulation, and more. However, she appears to have a projectile blast-based power in the series.

Meanwhile, Teenage Kix will be a boy-band-like take on a superhero group, which is itself a parody of DC's Teen Titans. Similarly, Supersonic seems to have been inspired by DC's speedster, Wally West.

The teaser showcased A-Train's ad for his Turbo Rush drink, featuring the product amidst a riot. This is a direct reference to Kendall Jenner's controversial Pepsi ad, which received much flak in 2017.

The amount of coitus, gore, and a glimpse of a Homelander-based s*x toy hints at the upcoming season being likely based on Garth Ennis' 2010 mini-series The Boys: Herogasm. It is expected that season 3 will showcase the iconic annual superhero or*y event from the comics.

Furthermore, the animated spinoff Diabolical, which provides a backstory for Homelander, has been confirmed to be canon with the primary show. This could hint at callbacks from the animated series in the upcoming The Boys season 3, which is slated to premiere on June 3.
