WWE Monday Night Raw preview: 21 December 2015

A solid angle

Will we see the beast? The 21st December 2015 edition of Monday Night Raw is almost here. After what happened last week, the fans are eagerly waiting for the new episode that promises to be a thriller. This anxiety is something that WWE failed to evoke all throughout 2015.For the first time, Raw will open with Roman Reigns as the WWE Champion, and this one statement is enough to keep the crowd on the edge of their seats. From the Slammy awards to the potential return of Brock Lesnar, there are things worth looking forward to. With that said, here is a look at the things to expect on this week’s RAW.

#5 Three way or two way?

A solid angle

The US title, Tag Title, and the Divas title scenarios may be filled with ambiguity, but the Intercontinental Championship scenario have a different story.

Dean Ambrose and Kevin Owens had a solid battle at TLC and they followed it up on Raw.

The interesting part, however, was the inclusion of Dolph Ziggler. Ziggler and Ambrose were having a good match until Owens interfered. So the question is; will WWE go ahead with a two-way battle or will they include Ziggler as well?

WWE should answer this question on Raw as it would help them build things up perfectly for Royal Rumble.

#4 Slammys are here

The rightful winner

This week’s Raw will host the 2015 Slammy Awards.

Though Slammys are not something that has a huge significance on the longer run, it is expected to be a fun affair. The ‘Superstar of the Year’ award will arguably be the most talked about category.

The fans will be rooting for Seth Rollins, but it would be interesting to see whether WWE gives him the award. Giving the award to Roman Reigns once again would be a suicidal decision from WWE at this point.

The fans are firmly behind him now, but a second Superstar of the year award could change this perception.

#3 Wrath of authority

Time to play the game

The return of Vince McMahon was something that worked for WWE. Reigns benefited a lot from the presence of the boss and the superman punch he delivered reminded us of Steve Austin.

Vince is unlikely to stick around, but we could expect the return of Triple H. Reigns took out Hunter at TLC and a return will get the fans talking. Everyone wants to see a full on collision between Triple H and Roman Reigns, but WWE might have other plans.

There are rumors of a big superstar returning (which will be adressed in the next slide) and if he sides with the authority, things are bound to get interesting.

#2 Midcard title scenario

Heels no more?

Last week, the New Day came out and delivered a heartfelt segment.

It had shades of a face turn, but it was not a full-fledged turn. If WWE is indeed looking to turn New Day face, a feud with the Wyatt Family will fit perfectly into the situation.

No matter what WWE is building up, they need to give a new direction to the Tag Team Champions.

The United States Championship also needs a new direction. The League of Nations is apparently going nowhere and Del Rio needs to carry on with his US title. Apart from these two, WWE is looking to book Charlotte against Becky Lynch and we could see more from the same this week.

#1 Will we see the Beast?

Will we see the beast?

Brock Lesnar is almost sure to show up at this week’s Raw.

Lesnar has not been on television ever since his emphatic win against Undertaker in their trilogy and WWE will be eager to make him look good when he returns.

The main event is where Lesnar belongs and it wouldn't come as a surprise if he goes after Roman Reigns. The Reigns vs. Lesnar program is something that we’ve already seen, but this time, the dynamics have changed.

Reigns is the champion and the fans are behind him. Lesnar siding with the Authority could result in a solid angle, which everyone could enjoy. In addition, an opponent like Lesnar is what Reigns needs to make his title reign look credible.
