The go-home RAW show for Fastlane delivered in what it set out to do for the Pay Per View - deliver compelling storylines. Storylines that were in the making but didn’t have much heat delivered in more ways than one.There was more depth to the build-up to the main event this Sunday than any other on the show. Overall, Fastlane got a major boost with tonight’s episode of Raw at least for some of the most interesting feuds going on. Fastlane will be intriguing if only to see how they book Dean Ambrose. Here are the 5 promising developments from this week's show-
#5 Owens fights. Owens wins.
Owens won his 2nd IC title
The last but far from least takeaway from this show was the fact that Owens finally won and that too the Intercontinental title. That gives Ambrose more life to prove his detractors wrong that he’s more than just a sidekick to Reigns and that he has all the more reason to fight for the prize in contention now that the title he held was so spectacularly taken away by Owens.
Owens won an insane match and it seems that Ziggler’s previous wins over him will lead to a feud for the title soon.
#4 One of a kind heel turn
No more tables
The Dudley Boyz turned heels and how did they accomplish that?
By abolishing the tables in their matches.
The one element that fans take away from their legacy is the fact how they made tables so essentially entertaining in the narrative of WWE and now the Dudleys don’t care what the fans want. They want to prove to the fans and the tag team division that they are more than the tables they break.
The promo by Bubba Ray Dudley was great and it achieved what was desired perfectly.
#3 The Miz-Styles-Jericho Saga
The story continues
AJ Styles is the Phenomenal One, for sure. But do give credit to Miz for being Awesome. This feud between Styles and Jericho has been hugely over thanks to the role Miz has played throughout. He’s so good as the arrogant, wannabe Hollywood star heel role that he’s made everything that Styles or Jericho do to him look that much entertaining.
And thankfully, the third match between Y2J and Styles is in the making. Jericho will give us the answer to Styles’ challenge on Smackdown.
#2 Perfect Heat
Charlotte gained great heat from this segment
The one thing that has really helped Brie Bella’s act is her husband’s announcement last week that he’s retiring. That would have been a perfect foil for Charlotte to gain more heat for her heel act and the writers did just that, allowing this program to get the relevance a championship bout entails.
Charlotte was lethal with her many statements, insulting to a very large extent and that’s exactly what you’d expect of a heel. Bella has never had more sympathy than now and their segment today was a really great way to quickly build up to their expectedly short feud. Add to that the fact that Charlotte won the title from Brie’s sister Nikki and you have all the required ingredients to use for a great story
#1 The Bromance Lives On
Two Bromantic
They’ve written the remaining part of The Shield as well as they did for the trio. The friendship between Reigns and Ambrose has seen a lot of company intervention and has been accustomed to many mind games but the understanding between them prevails beyond everything.
They know they’ll have to face each other to determine who moves ahead to the biggest show there is in wrestling and they’ll do whatever it takes but still remain friends throughout it all. This ain’t just the Bromance of the past few years, this is the best fictional bromances WWE has ever had.
