Love is not love in the WWE if there is no break up or, well, a love triangle. When there is love, there has to be a scandal. Sometimes, that scandal is an extension of their real lives and sometimes the scandal is their real life.But controversy has always alluded to the other man or the other woman. And they have comprised of many feuds that went on to become great rivalries and stole the show that particular year.Here are the top 5 love triangles in WWE history
#5 Triple H - Stephanie McMahon - Kurt Angle
Let’s start with the most kayfabe of all love triangles. If you’ve watched the Attitude Era in some capacity, it would have been hard for you to miss the storyline involving Triple H, Stephanie McMahon and Kurt Angle. Triple H and McMahon were married to each other and weeks of build up had made matters clear that Angle was harboring some feelings for The Billion Dollar Princess. And all of that became crystal clear when after being accidently hit by Angle, McMahon was nursing herself backstage when Angle came, apologized,told her how much he cared and then kissed her.
Triple H was jealous and possessive and for weeks both of them began competing against one another for Stephanie.
All of that eventually ended in HHH and Stephanie being together and Angle being okay with it and moving on to other storylines.
#4 Hulk Hogan- Miss Elizabeth- Randy Savage
As far as we know this was more kayfabe than reality.
The Mega Powers was one of the greatest tag teams in the WWE and it comprised of the two most popular star of the Golden Era of the WWE- Hulk Hogan and Macho Man.
The alliance between Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth is and always will be legendary but tensions arose when Elizabeth began accompanying Hogan for his solo matches.
Jealousy blinded Macho Man and Miss Elizabeth was not allowed at ringside for his matches. It was his turn to turn heel and begin the most awaited program featuring the behemoths of the Golden Era.
#3 CM Punk - AJ Lee - Daniel Bryan
The last of the purely kayfabe love triangles on this end ends with this one. This is the angle which turned AJ Lee into the most over female performer on the roster and this was the beginning of her crazy gimmick. She played an important part in this feud between Daniel Bryan and CM Punk. Punk didn’t like the way Lee was treated by Bryan and Bryan was jealous with AJ Lee transferring her affections towards Punk.
None of them ended with each other. It was a feud that had some good wrestling and character development.
#2 Chyna - Triple H - Stephanie McMahon
Here comes the controversy. This triangle never played out on screen. It played out off-screen and became newsworthy in the wrestling industry. As the story goes,Triple H began a relationship with the boss’s daughter when he was still with Chyna. And apparently everybody except Chyna knew about it. Chyna found herself in a storyline with Eddie Guerrero, transitioning from the DX, Corporation phase to something where there was no storyline interaction with HHH, while he was involved in a major storyline involving Stephanie McMahon as his wife.
Chyna left the company to never come back. The controversy lives on even today.
#1 Matt Hardy- Lita -Edge
This is the best feud Matt Hardy ever had in his singles career. And this is the feud that made Edge the Rated R Superstar. And in all of this Lita was booed heavily so as to become one of the most hated performers in the industry.
Off screen, Matt Hardy ended his relationship with Lita after getting to know about an affair between her and Edge.
He even talked about it to a media outlet which led to him getting fired. The fans were outraged and discussion around Hardy only got stronger. Storyline wise- Lita ended her marriage to Kane to begin her storyline with Edge. That created the perfect platform for Hardy to return. And in WWE, controversy does create cash and so Hardy returned, the feud began and it lives on in the memory of every fan that witnessed it and to every fan knows about of Edge even when he transitioned into the PG Era.
