NBA Best Bets for Tonight: Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers, and Memphis Grizzlies

Memphis Grizzlies v Los Angeles Lakers
NBA stars LeBron James and Ja Morant

The 2022-2023 NBA season continues on Wednesday (November 2nd) with 22 teams set to take the court.

Take a look at three team bets for tonight's action, featuring the Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers, and Memphis Grizzlies.

NBA Best Team Bet #1: Los Angeles Lakers ML (+135)

At first glance, this pick may not make much sense as the Los Angeles Lakers have been one of the NBA's worst teams, while the New Orleans Pelicans have been one of the best. The Pelicans will, however, be without leading scorer Brandon Ingram, while second-leading scorer Zion Williamson is yet to play more than 30 minutes in a game this season.

Additionally, the Lakers have looked like a much different team since moving former MVP Russell Westbrook to the bench. While they dropped their first game without Westbrook starting, they looked much better with him and LeBron James having less time together on the court.

The game was very competitive, considering that the Lakers were without star big man Anthony Davis against a Minnesota Timberwolves team that has plenty of size. With Davis back against the Denver Nuggets, the Lakers picked up their first victory of the season.

Davis currently leads the NBA in defensive rating and is a big part of why the Lakers rank tenth in opponents points per game and third in defensive rating. Look for the Lakers to continue to build off a strong performance against Denver by picking up their second win of the season.

Best NBA Team Bet #2: Philadelphia 76ers -6.5 (-110)

After struggling to begin the season, the Philadelphia 76ers have quietly won their last three games. The most recent of those wins was a 118-111 road victory against the Washington Wizards. The 76ers will face the Wizards for the second time in three nights, although this time they will meet in Philadelphia.

The 76ers winning streak is largely due to a strong defense that has allowed 103.3 points per game over that span. While that mark would lead the NBA, the 76ers season pace of 108.1 points per game allowed ranks sixth in the league.

Facing a Wizards offense that ranks just 25th in points per game, look for Philadelphia's stifling defense to lead them to a victory by at least seven points for the second time in three nights.

Best NBA Team Bet #3: Memphis Grizzlies -4.5 (-110)

The Portland Trail Blazers were able to defeat the Houston Rockets in their first game without Damian Lillard. They will, however, get a much tougher test as Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies will visit.

The Grizzlies have struggled to a 4-3 record. That is largely due to a defense that ranks 30th in opponents points per game and 29th in defensive rating. Their offense, however, has been very impressive, ranking third in points per game and sixth in offensive rating.

While the Blazers have been pretty good on both sides of the ball, they will be without Gary Payton II and Josh Hart in addition to their star point guard. Look for Morant and the Grizzlies to take advantage by winning this contest by at least five points.
