Ireland Women's Cricket Team Bio

Ireland Women Cricket Team was incepted in 1987. Ireland Women’s cricket team is lead by Laura Delany since April 2016, after she was named the captain of Ireland women's cricket team. Currently, Ireland is ranked at the 10th position in the ICC Women's Rankings.

History over the years

Ireland made its ODI debut in 1987, against Australia. It went on to play the world cup the very next year making first of the five appearances of the tournament. It was one of the strongest teams in the 1990s and the 2000s where it even reached a fifth position ranking among all the international teams. It played its first and only Test match in 2000 against Pakistan. Although Ireland's Women's Cricket team is still recognized as an ODI team, the Irish team has failed to make it to the World Cup since 2005. It has however qualified for the World T20s in 2014 and 2016.
