Netherlands Women's Hockey team Bio

The Netherlands Women’s Hockey team is the current world number one in the latest FIH world rankings. The team is also the current world champions in the sport.


History


The team plays under the aegis of Dutch Hockey Confederation, also known as the KNHB which was formed in 1898. The association is the fifth largest sports federation.


The first major success for the Dutch women in the sport of hockey was the World Cup win in 1974.


Achievements


The Dutch women’s hockey team has won the World Cup on seven occasions, making them the most successful team in the competition.


They have also won the Olympic gold medal eight times and won the Champions Trophy six times.


In addition, they have won the European Championships nine times out of 13 editions.

The Dutch women’s hockey team is placed in Pool A along with China, Italy and South Korea in the 2018 FIH Women’s Hockey World Cup.


The defending champions are one of the favorites for the title once again.
