Ben Shelton entered the 2025 French Open as the 13th seed after a hard loss at the Italian Open at the hands of Jaume Munar. He faced Spaniard and eventual champion, Carlos Alcaraz, in the fourth round and lost in four sets. Shelton will next be in action in the Round of 16 at the Stuttgart Open, set to clash with French player Pierre-Hugues Herbert.

Ahead of his Grand Slam debut in 2022, the then-teenager turned professional and announced that he would be managed by Roger Federer's Team8. As per the latest release, Shelton signed with WME, following Coco Gauff's lead, after the latter launched her eponymous enterprise under WME's banner.

Gauff had announced the news on her Instagram, talking about how she would want to leave her impact in avenues beyond tennis. The American No. 2 also expressed gratitude to her previous management team for their support.

"Today I'm thrilled to announce the launch of Coco Gauff Enterprises, a venture that reflects my passion for making an impact- not just in tennis, but in business, philanthropy, and beyond...Taking this big step forward also means closing the incredible chapter I have shared with Team8. I'll always be grateful for everything they've done for me and my family, and I know I'll look back on that time with deep appreciation and fond memories," she captioned the post.

Ben Shelton was up against Lorenzo Sonego in the first round of the 2025 French Open, and it was right after the 'King of Clay' Rafael Nadal's tribute. Sonego was vying to repeat his 2023 French Open feat, where he trounced the American in the first round. However, this time, he failed to do so and succumbed to Shelton in a five-set thriller.

The 13th-seeded player later expressed that the first-round schedule gave him "goosebumps" since it followed Nadal's ceremony.

"I thought it was a typo at first, a mix-up and it was actually Court 7. I was really excited, I couldn’t believe it. It was really special. Obviously, having Rafa’s ceremony before the match; it gives you goosebumps just being out here on this court. To get a win the way that I did, in five sets, late at night, was a dream come true," he said (via Roland Garros)

Shelton has been dating soccer star and Olympic gold medalist Trinity Rodman since earlier this year.
