American singer, songwriter, and actress Halle Bailey is currently involved in a custody battle over her 18-month-old son, Halo, with her former partner, rapper and YouTuber DDG, whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr.

Amid the legal battle, DDG has accused his ex of sneaking in AirTags in three of his cars and their infant’s diaper bags to track their location when the child is in his care.

The revelation about the AirTags became public after DDG filed an emergency motion at the Los Angeles Superior Court on June 4, 2025, to stop Halle Bailey from taking their son to Italy for a film shoot.

He claimed his ex-partner posed an "imminent emotional and psychological risk to the minor child based on repeated, documented threats of self-harm."

However, the judge has denied the motion and has allowed Bailey to take Halo to Italy. Meanwhile, in response to DDG’s filing, Halle told the court on Wednesday that he had known about the upcoming trip for months.

"I must be on set in Italy to film a movie. I am contractually bound to be there from June 7, 2025, to August 4, 2025. Darryl has known about this work obligation for months. This is my source of income, on which Halo and I rely to pay all bills," Bailey’s filing read.

Elsewhere, text exchanges between the former couple have also come to light. In one, Halle Bailey reportedly threatened to take her own life over their failed relationship and blamed him for the same.

Meanwhile, DDG’s recent court filing also shared that The Little Mermaid actress allegedly “hit” him repeatedly inside the vehicles when he confronted her about secretly tracking his movements.

More about the ongoing DDG and Halle Bailey text scandal amid the custody battle

On June 4, 2025, as part of his emergency motion, DDG also submitted alleged text interactions between him and Halle Bailey, which are part of his restraining order against her.

The online streamer has accused the Disney star of "growing hostility" involving his "professional collaborations with other women" and a "fixation" on his other past relationships.

He also submitted injury photos seemingly caused by Halle Bailey.

In one such text exchange obtained by Complex, Halle wrote she was begging for DDG’s “help,” as she was “actively suicidal and struggling,” and had been “running to the doctor every day.”

In another message, Bailey accused Darryl of infidelity and being an absentee father. She also called him a “horrible person,” who “let me down every time.”

The Color Purple actress also claimed Granberry allegedly used their son for clout and a “money deal.”

A follow-up message dated March 21, 2024, Halle Bailed claimed to have discovered that DDG was reportedly cheating on her with a woman named Lala, in Mexico.

“U LEAVE ME HANGING AS A MOTHER. U DON’T STEP UP WHEN I NEED U TO,” Bailed seemingly wrote.

In another text, Darryl asked Halle if she was behaving such because of his Sexxy Red tweet, referring to his March 2024 post reading, “Sexxy Red top 5 female rapper of all time.”

The rapper-YouTuber also wrote, “This literally makes no sense.”

“You can make up whatever you want when I’m gone. Tell everyone I’m crazy… I can’t wait for you to realize how badly you f**ked up. How you ruined me and any chance I had of having a good life and putting myself back together,” Halle Bailey wrote in a text chain.

She continued:

“U continue to ignore us. Me and ur son are alone. You don’t care about us anymore. U never did.”

According to DDG’s legal filing, Halley Bailey repeatedly used “emotional coercion and manipulation” throughout their time together to “exert her control” over him.

In the court docs, DDG alleges that Halle made repeated threats of self-harm and suicide, and used "emotional coercion and manipulation" throughout their relationship to "exert her control" over him.

According to the rapper, in March 2024, his ex-partner allegedly threatened to commit suicide while driving with their child in the backseat.

Meanwhile, he was concerned for the safety of the mother and son and seemingly reached out to Bailey’s godmother for help.

According to DDG, Halle sent her distressing texts in September and November of last year, apart from March.

DDG also claimed that on March 21, 2024, Halle threatened suicide before attempting to drive while emotionally distressed with the child in the car.

He says he was so concerned for their son Halo's safety that he reached out to Halle’s godmother for help. He also alleges that she sent similarly threatening messages in September and November 2024.

According to Granberry’s text response to Halle Bailey, he claimed to be “genuinely scared” of him, adding he feared she would “kill me in my sleep one day.”

Darryl also refused to let her into his house and didn’t trust her around his firearms.

The court documents also revealed that Halle Bailey allegedly threatened DDG’s life with one of his guns during a “particularly volatile” argument in August 2023. As per DDG, she took the “weapon and left the house” without his consent.

The legal filing mentioned that Darryl found out about the AirTags with the help of his mother, Tonya, and her fiancé and son’s chauffeur, George Charleston.

Reportedly, the tech devices were found during Halle’s pregnancy in 2023 and later after the birth of their son, under the seats of his vehicles and in Halo’s diaper bags.

While Halle Bailey has not responded to the multiple allegations against her, she took out a temporary restraining order against DDG, counter-accusing him of physical, psychological, emotional, verbal, and financial abuse.

In April 2025, she was granted temporary custody of Halo, and DDG was asked to have limited contact with the kid, both of which ended on June 4, 2025.

However, Halle Bailey has been allowed to take her son to Italy with her for a movie shoot.

Halle Bailey and DDG dated between December 2021 and October 2024. Halo was born in December 2023. At the time of their split, they had agreed on co-parenting.
