Olympic gold medalist Erin Jackson is an American speed skater and roller derby player. Jackson attempted figure skating when he was eight years old, but as a teenager, he switched to inline (roller) speed skating, where he won bronze in the 500-meter track at the 2008 World Junior Championships. In 2012 and 2013, she received the title of Female Athlete of the Year for Roller Sports from the US Olympic Committee.
Jackson became the first Black woman to win gold in a Winter Olympic individual event at the Beijing Games. She resumed inline skating later that year and won her first-ever world title in the one-lap sprint event at the 2022 ISU World Championships. The following year, Jackson would also win gold in her speciality event, the 500m, at the PanAm Games.
