Plot of The Survivors
15 years ago, a storm killed Kieran Elliott's brother Finn, his best friend Toby, and a young girl named Gabby. The show is about Kieran Elliott's return to the town of Evelyn Bay. After going into the caves and being blamed for the tragedy, Finn and Toby tried to save him in a dangerous way. People in the town remember Finn and Toby as heroes, but they don't know how Gabby died.
When Bronte is found dead on the beach, she was researching Gabby's death for an art project. Her investigation reveals long-kept secrets, such as evidence that Gabby may have been involved in the storm's rescue efforts, which goes against what the town says happened.
While the investigation is going on, Bronte's research points to some possible suspects, such as the local author Barlin and members of Kieran's family.
When Kieran goes back to Evelyn Bay, he meets people from his past. His mother, Verity, blames Kieran for Finn's death, which makes things worse between them. That being said, Kieran hadn't called for help during the storm; it was Gabby's sister, Olivia Birch. It was because Kieran didn't say anything about Olivia's part that he left the town.
The investigation reveals the truth: Sean, Julian's son, says he killed both Gabby and Bronte. Sean took Gabby to the caves on the day of the storm, but after a failed romantic move, he left her there to drown. Sean killed Bronte to hide his tracks. In the last fight, Sean was caught by the police and charged with killing two people.
At the end of the series, the families of the victims get together for a memorial, and Kieran and Mia start to get back together, putting the past behind them.
