WWE Superstars or Professional Wrestlers, in general, are humans just like us. They portray a character in front of the camera such as a monster heel, an inspiring babyface, etc. Despite that, there can be times when they feel the need to express themselves and let the WWE Universe know how they are feeling.

This can result in Superstars breaking their on-screen characters or crafting their expressions in such a way that they get the message out while staying in character. Thus, when you surf the official Twitter handles of different Superstars, you will often notice a change in their attitudes, especially when it comes to emotional tweets.

Emotions can get the best of everyone and WWE Superstars are no exception. Sometimes, a superstar might feel the need to reflect upon a throwback moment, remember a departed soul or deliver heartbreaking news. These emotional moments allow Superstars to portray their real selves and connect better with the WWE Universe.

In an era where the internet has completely taken over, the industry has revolutionized to leverage this. So, it is natural that WWE superstars too find this avenue to connect with the fans and show the world their human side.

That being said, here are 10 of the most emotional tweets by WWE Superstars.

#10 Dustin Rhodes bids farewell to Goldust

Over the past 20+ years, we have had the privilege to be entertained by Goldust. Although he was never pushed to the main event status, The Bizarre One always managed to make the most out of what was given to him.

The gimmick was played with aplomb by Dustin Runnels and will go down as one of the greatest gimmicks in WWE history. From downright shocking to comically brilliant, a number of adjectives can be used to describe what Goldust brought to the ring.

During his final year with WWE, he spent most of the time in sidelines due to being injured. When his contract was up nearly a month ago, Goldust decided to jump ship to AEW and join Cody there. Before closing the biggest chapter of his life however, Dustin made sure to thank everyone that was a part of his journey and tweeted an emotional status.

#9 Daniel Bryan confirms his retirement

Daniel Bryan
Daniel Bryan

Bad luck closely followed Daniel Bryan back in 2013-2014 when he was on his way to becoming WWE’s top Superstar. Just a couple of months after his monumental win at Wrestlemania 30, Bryan was sidelined with an injury for the remainder of 2014. Although he didn’t receive a similar push upon returning in 2015, he was still treated as a major player and given the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 31.

However, he was once again diagnosed with a career-threatening injury and had to vacate the IC title as well. Nearly a year (in February 2016), news broke out that Daniel Bryan would be retiring from the in-ring competition. On February 8, 2016, Bryan tweeted that he would be announcing his retirement on the upcoming edition of Raw, citing medical reasons as the cause.

Although Bryan’s retirement was a heartbreaking moment, we are thankful that he was able to fight through it all and return to the squared circle.

#8 Kofi Kingston thanks the WWE Universe after WrestleMania 35 win

Until April of 2019, no African-born superstar had won the most coveted prize in WWE i.e. the WWE Championship. However, history was made at WrestleMania 35 when Kofi Kingston won the title from Daniel Bryan. Kingston has always been adored by the fans. However, his meteoric rise to the main-event status came after his impressive performance in a gauntlet match, just 5 days before the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view.

Then, an outstanding performance inside the Chamber made the WWE Universe realize that it was time for Kingston to get what he had deserved for so long. The New Day member’s popularity skyrocketed in a matter of days and this caused WWE to place him in a WWE title match at WrestleMania.

Kofi’s road to WrestleMania was rocky but it was worth it in the end. After winning the title and an emotional celebration inside the ring, the WWE Champion took to Twitter to express his gratitude to the WWE Universe in a heartfelt tweet.

When an entire pay-per-view is referred to as Kofi-Mania, you know that you've got the fans in your corner.

2018 wasn’t a good one for the Queen of Harts. She lost her father, Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart. For those of you unaware, Natalya was quite close to her father, with the latter also appearing on the reality show “Total Divas” alongside her daughter.

The loss was bound to hit her hard and the former SmackDown Women’s Champion took to Twitter to deliver an emotional goodbye message to her late father. Sadly enough, WWE incorporated this loss into a story-line between Natalya and the Riott Squad soon after.

WWE inducted the Hart Foundation into the Hall of Fame in 2019 and it was an emotionally charged moment for all the stakeholders.

#6 The Man melts

The Man Melts Down:

The current Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch has developed a strong and savage character over the last year. “The Man” can often be spotted feuding with others both on-screen and on social media platforms.

However, she was forced to channel her real-life persona “Rebecca Quinn” when she came across a special fan, Morgan. Morgan had lost all of his wrestling collectables with his house burning down. This led to the professional wrestling community stepping up and making Morgan feel better. Becky Lynch was among those heroes.

It’s rare to see Lynch break character but it was a fair exception and she also dedicated a short yet heartfelt tweet to Morgan.

#5 Matt Hardy hints at retiring

Injuries are bound to catch up when someone has a wrestling style similar to Matt Hardy. The older Hardy brother was on a roll in 2018. He finally got the rights to his Broken (Woken) gimmick back and implemented it to feud with Bray Wyatt.

After overcoming Wyatt, Hardy formed a tag team with his foe and the duo had an interesting run as the Tag Team Champions. However, Hardy’s extreme wrestling style in his earlier days got the best of him around summer time. Shortly after Hardy and Wyatt dropped the Tag Titles, Hardy went into a hiatus and started posting tweets indicating that he might be done with Professional Wrestling.

Out of those tweets, the most emotional one was where he thanked the fans for supporting all of his creative gimmicks throughout his two-decade-plus career.

Hardy, however, continues to wrestle as a part of AEW's roster.

#4 Ali apologizes to WWE Universe for being unable to compete in the Elimination Chamber

Ali

After Survivor Series 2018, WWE brought Ali over to SmackDown Live from 205 Live for a one-off appearance. His match that night against Daniel Bryan impressed the people backstage so much that the move was made permanent the following week.

Over the next few weeks, Ali got a main-event star treatment and was also inserted into the Elimination Chamber match. However, the minor injuries suffered over the course of time caught up with him and WWE rendered Ali unable to compete inside the Chamber. He posted a video tweet about it, apologizing to the WWE Universe for letting everyone down.

Ali was replaced by Kofi, who went on to become the WWE champion at Wrestlemania while the former was relegated to the mid-card upon returning.

Bad luck or timing could ideally be used to describe Ali's situation. But one thing that we can't take away is that Ali will get his due again and hopefully, he makes the amends this time.

#3 Johnny Gargano thanks his mother

If you watch NXT on a regular basis, you must have followed Johnny Gargano’s journey from a rookie to becoming the first-ever Triple Crown Champion in the Black and gold brand.

From being a lifelong wrestling fan to transforming himself completely to achieving his dream, Gargano’s path has been nothing but inspiring. However, the Rebel Heart believes that the credit for this should go to his mother who believed in his dreams and made sure to do everything in her power to make it a reality. Gargano dedicated a heartfelt tribute to his mother on Mother’s Day via his official Twitter handle

#2 Paige retires from in-ring competition

Paige Announcing her retirement
Paige Announcing her retirement

After a controversial 2017, Paige once again got a chance in WWE in December of that year. Unfortunately, she suffered a career-ending injury merely weeks after returning. Paige continued to appear regularly on TV throughout WrestleMania 34 season to assist her apprentices Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose.

She remained tight-lipped about her in-ring future, though. However, on the Raw After WrestleMania, she addressed the WWE Universe and confirmed the retirement rumors.

The following day, she tweeted an emotional thank you message to the WWE Universe for their overwhelming response and well-wishes.

#1 Ciampa breaks character

NXT Superstar Tommaso Ciampa has got to be one of the best heels in the business today. Him betraying Johnny Gargano two years ago and then spending almost the entire 2018 feuding with his former tag team partner were some of the best-told stories in the last few years. Ciampa portrays a heel on-screen and rarely breaks kayfabe off-screen.

When Gargano won the NXT Title however, the Blackheart couldn’t resist and had to come out and share the special moment with Gargano and Candice LeRae. Ciampa then posted a heartwarming tweet about the specialty of that moment.

Breaking Kayfabe is not such a big offense as it was deemed in the late 90's and Ciampa coming out of his tough guy persona to acknowledge the accomplishment of his colleague just goes around to show you the relationships that wrestlers forge in this imdustry.
