#11 Edge returning to the ring; one night only

Does the Rated R Superstar have one more match left in him?
Does the Rated R Superstar have one more match left in him?

I did say this was a wish list. There have been a lot of unsubstantiated rumors surrounding the in-ring future of Edge. The WWE Hall of Famer had to retire in 2011 due to complications from a broken neck. That said, there have been a number of reports this year that indicate the Rated R Superstar is ready to make his return. Not only that, but rumors persist that he's apparently been medically cleared by WWE and will be a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble. Edge himself vehemently denied those most recent "reports":

Sportskeeda journalist Tom Colohue told me that Edge does in fact have a desire to return to the ring, but one is not likely.

"Edge doesn't have a record for lying. If he says he's not coming back, that's evidence enough for me. He's been wanting to come back for a long time - he never wanted to go of course - but the WWE doctors won't let that happen. This isn't about a chance for injury, it's about a chance he might die from an innocuous bump in the middle of the ring. Would you take that risk?"

All that said, it is the time of year for miracles, isn't it? We know one thing for sure; Edge has been cleared for some physical contact. He made a surprise appearance at SummerSlam this year and speared Elias. What's stopping him from doing it a few more times?

I would love to see Edge be the surprise #29 entrant in the Royal Rumble. He could spear 5 or 6 dudes and eliminate them. The crowd in Houston would lose their minds as Edge held the ring to himself. The clock ticks down to zero, and out comes John Cena. The two could have an epic stare down, for old time's sake, before Cena eliminates Edge to win the match and head on to WrestleMania.

There is less than 1% chance that this actually happens, but this is my dream booking if Edge were to return. I don't need to see him come back full time and risk catastrophic injury. The man has accomplished everything there is in to do in WWE. Would one more match be enough for the WWE Universe?
