3 main eventers Vince McMahon will stop pushing and 3 he won't

Is Drew McIntyre still McMahon's pet project?
Is Drew McIntyre still McMahon's pet project?

Let's face it - in 2019, practically no superstar has a guarantee of getting pushed consistently. It was just a few years ago when fans used to anticipate the debuts of top NXT stars, hopeful that their success would translate to the main roster in a bigger way.

As we had to learn the hard way, that wasn't the case at all. But it was no fault of the performers. It was the fault of the company who wasn't (and to a large extent, still isn't) able to handle multiple talents even though many are capable of being legitimate main eventers.

Now, there's a sense of dread whenever a superstar is called up from NXT, there's a sense of dread because fans know that their career in WWE has peaked creatively.

The reality is that when they want to, WWE can make anyone look really good. It's just that the current state of creative affairs seemingly prevents anyone from looking better. Either way, there are quite a few superstars who are being pushed on a main event level now that won't reach the projected heights. Here are a few who will stop being pushed and a few who won't.

#3. Will stop pushing: Baron Corbin

One can't help but think that had Jason Jordan never gotten injured, he would have been in Corbin's current spot. The difference was that Jordan really took to pro wrestling better. He was a better athlete, a far better in-ring worker and towards the end, he was even finding his stride as an oblivious heel.

However, Corbin keeps getting pushed despite not really suiting the role. It seems inevitable that Vince McMahon will give up on him due to the lack of reactions he gets.

#3 Won't stop pushing: Becky Lynch

Becky Lynch has admittedly lost a little bit of steam since WrestleMania 35. We can't really be surprised about it because that's just the way things seem to go in WWE nowadays. Regardless, The Man has been getting a consistent push for a good part of 10 months now and soon enough, it'll be a full year since her unexpected rise to the top had begun.

Regardless of what happens, it's clear that Becky Lynch was established as the top female babyface in all of WWE at WrestleMania 35. It's crazy because there was a point in 2015-2016 where she was a clear #3 to Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks. 2017 was even worse with the rise of Alexa Bliss.

Regardless, WWE has gone out of their way to coronate Becky Lynch, which means that she is likely only going to stop getting pushed once she starts winding things down.

#2. Will stop pushing: Braun Strowman

Braun Strowman has had a disappointing 2019

There were few superstars who lost their push quicker in 2019 than Braun Strowman. Some may count this as "cheating" because Strowman, in essence, has already lost his monster push. Not that WWE can't revive him if they don't want to, but fans' predictions of how WWE would handle Strowman turned out to be true.

It's a real shame given that he was the single hottest superstar in WWE for all of 2017. He had great momentum heading into 2018 as well, but one spear and pin from Roman Reigns meant that the push would disappear.

He did win the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal, but we all know that it really doesn't mean anything. Many felt that he would go the Big Show route (i.e, terrible booking) and that's happened quicker than anticipated. If only they didn't squander the chance to make the biggest superstar in years.

#2. Won't stop pushing: Roman Reigns

Now out of all the surprises expected in 2019, who would have anticipated that Roman Reigns would return in two months, let alone be booked well? Since his incredible return around the end of February, WWE has been very careful in handling Roman Reigns.

Knowing that there were other superstars such as Kofi Kingston and Seth Rollins who had the most momentum, they avoided the same mistake they made three years in a row - ruining someone else's momentum to try to push Roman Reigns.

Instead, they've bided their time and made sure to keep him on the upper midcard level, moving him over to SmackDown due to the FOX deal that will be in effect this October.

Rest assured, WWE will start giving him the big push again once the summer is over. You can fully expect to see Roman Reigns as WWE Champion in a matter of months.

#1. Will stop pushing: Drew McIntyre

Will Drew McIntyre's push end sooner than later?
Will Drew McIntyre's push end sooner than later?

This one may come as a bit of a surprise to fans reading this because Drew McIntyre has been reasonably protected since his re-debut on the main roster last year. However, it's been over a year and the sad reality is that there hasn't been much progress nor has there been much development with Drew McIntyre.

Last year at this point, he was Dolph Ziggler's lackey and now, he's that of Shane McMahon. Aligning with Shane McMahon has done nothing for him and may not even have the payoff as hoped.

Sure, McIntyre has a great look to be a Diesel-type of bodyguard, but WWE seems hesitant in him taking the next big step. Unfortunately, we don't see McIntyre's push as a sustainable one and he's more than likely going to fall victim to WWE's booking trap, which means that he'll stop getting pushed sooner than later.

#1. Won't stop pushing: Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins will continue to burn it down

Whether fans like it or not, whether they understand it or not, one thing is clear - Vince McMahon is a huge fan of The Architect Seth Rollins. He has an incredible amount of faith in him and it was clear by the fact that he was given Roman Reigns' spot the moment The Big Dog took an unfortunate leave of absence.

Despite Reigns returning, WWE surprisingly did nothing to affect Rollins' spot and from the look of things, that top spot on RAW may be his for years to come. In that regard, it's a bit surprising that Rollins went just shy of 3 full years without winning a World Championship.

Either way, Seth Rollins has always been a World champion-calibre wrestler and he will be a top star for years to come in WWE.
