Though Vince McMahon is not the mastermind behind the creation of Money in the Bank, he always plays a big role in the booking decisions.
Though Vince McMahon is not the mastermind behind the creation of Money in the Bank, he always plays a big role in the booking decisions.

Vince McMahon is the genius behind the WWE product that we watch week in and week out. The Chairman has taken the company to newer heights with his visionary ideas and farsightedness. Obviously, the nature of the business that he runs does not allow him to keep fans happy all the time but he tries his best to satisfy all the members of the WWE Universe.

One of the greatest concepts creates in WWE is the Money in the Bank contract. This briefcase gives a superstar a golden chance to completely change his career. We have seen multiple superstars in the past whose careers rose sky high after capturing the elusive Money in the Bank contract.

Though Vince McMahon is not the mastermind behind the creation of Money in the Bank, looking at the match's success and popularity in its initial years, the company decided to originate a pay-per-view by the same name. Two Money in the Bank ladder matches take place on the show apart from the regular feuds and rivalries. This pay-per-view happens after WrestleMania and hence, we always see new heroes rise at the event.

In this article, we will have a look at the 3 superstars that Vince McMahon does not push at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view and 4 that he always does.

#1 Never Pushes - Kevin Owens

Kevin Owens has been one of the top heels on the main roster ever since he moved up from NXT. However, the Prizefighter has always received poor booking at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view. In his first ever match on the show, he suffered a defeat at the hands of John Cena in 2015. He was then involved in the multi-man Money in the Bank ladder match from 2016-18.

However, Owens failed to win even a single out of those three matches, taking his record at Money in the Bank to 0-4. This year he may compete for the WWE Championship on the show but given that Kofi Kingston has just won the title expect Kevin to lose yet another bout at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view.

#2 Never pushes - Sami Zayn

Just like his best friend Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn has received lackluster booking at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view. I mean who can forget the cringeworthy rivalry between Sami Zayn and Bobby Lashley! (I still see those Lashley sisters in my nightmares)

Well, though Sami dominated that feud, he lost his pay-per-view match against Bobby Lashley last year. In the preceding shows of the event, The Underdog from the Underground had lost both the Money in the Bank ladder matches he had taken part in.

This shows that WWE does not give Sami the right amount of momentum at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view. Looking at the manner in which WWE has booked him so far, it seems like he may feature in the Money in the Bank ladder match of 2019 or may even have a singles match with newbie Cedric Alexander. Either way, the chances of Zayn emerging victorious are minimal.

#3 Never pushes - Becky Lynch

The Man Becky Lynch will have to compete in two matches at the upcoming edition of Money in the Bank. Though she has both the women's titles around her waist heading into Money in the Bank 2019, Becky has never won a single match in the event's history.

Becky's first ever appearance on the Money in the Bank pay-per-view came in 2016 when she teamed up with Natalya to take on Charlotte and Dana Brooke. After the duo lost their match, Natalya turned on the Irish Lasskicker and destroyed her.

In the next two editions of Money in the Bank, Becky competed in the women's Money in the Bank ladder matches but she could not win the briefcase on both the occasions. Hence, this shows that Vince McMahon does not push Becky Lynch at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view. Even this year, she could lose her SmackDown women's championship to Charlotte Flair.

#1 Always pushes - AJ Styles

When we talk about AJ Styles and the Money in the Bank pay-per-view, the one match which comes to our mind is the bout between John Cena and The Phenomenal One at Money in the Bank 2016. Two of the world's best sports entertainers delivered an all-time classic at the event and ultimately, it was AJ Styles who emerged victorious from the match.

Given that it was AJ Styles' first year in the WWE, a pay-per-view win over the company's golden boy is a huge achievement.

Though Styles was not booked to win the Money in the Bank ladder match in 2017 (because of his involvement in the US title picture), the New Face That Runs The Place defeated Shinsuke Nakamura in an epic last man standing match at the succeeding edition.

AJ Styles will challenge the Universal Champion, Seth Rollins at this year's show and this match just follows Vince McMahon's trend of pushing Styles at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view.

#2 Always pushes - Carmella

When Carmella arrived on the main roster, not many expected her to be so successful as she is right now. The Princess of Staten Island is a former 2-time Ms. Money in the Bank and also a former SmackDown Live Women's Champion.

The one thing that is common amongst her achievements is the Money in the Bank pay-per-view. Though James Ellsworth has played a huge role in her success at the event, Vince McMahon tries his best to prove to the WWE Universe that Mella is Money (pun intended).

She won the first ever women's Money in the Bank ladder match in 2017 and in 2018, she successfully defended her SmackDown Women's Championship against Asuka, a superstar who was undefeated in the WWE for a long, long time.

Surely, the Boss of WWE would be planning big things for Carmella for the upcoming event as well.

#3 Always pushes - Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins has an envious record at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view. Be it fighting with his Shield brothers or be it battling against them, Rollins has always had the upper hand at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view.

At Money in the Bank 2013, he had teamed up with Roman Reigns to successfully defend their WWE Tag Team Championships against the Usos. In 2014, he won the Money in the Bank contract after betraying his Shield brothers.

Rollins main evented Money in the Bank in 2015 and 2016. He had retained his WWE Championship against Dean Ambrose in a ladder match in 2015 while in 2016 he defeated Roman Reigns to win the WWE Championship. However, Dean Ambrose cashed in his Money in the Bank contract later to win the title from Rollins.

The Architect did not wrestle at the 2017 edition of Money in the Bank. However, in 2018, he conquered Elias to keep hold of his Intercontinental Championship. This year, he will put his Universal title on the line against AJ Styles at the event and the Kingslayer is highly backed to retain his championship.

#4 Always pushes - Baron Corbin

Baron Corbin made an impact on the main roster ever since he made his debut at WrestleMania 32. In the same year, he had defeated Dolph Ziggler in a singles match at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view.

After the brand split, Corbin became the top heel of SmackDown Live. He was billed as the future WWE Champion by many fans and critics. The Golden Gloves Champion then won the Money in the Bank contract in 2017. However, he could not cash it in successfully thanks to his controversial behavior outside the ring.

The Lone Wolf is still undefeated at the pay-per-view and now that he cannot compete for the Universal Championship at this year's Money in the Bank show, expect him to qualify for the men's Money in the Bank ladder match.

Though the chances of his victory are less, Vince McMahon will try to protect him so as to not let Corbin's mega victory over Kurt Angle go in vain.
