WWE is a competitive world, and it's obvious that several wrestlers are fighting it out for every spot on TV for the chance to take their place. This means that backstage politics come into play more often than not, and the company is often forced to take drastic action.

Wrestlers are regularly fired from WWE, with many stars being released back in 2020 because of the budget cuts that needed to be made amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

While WWE makes these cuts to save money and free up some space on the main roster for new stars, there are other incidences where current WWE performers have been responsible for getting someone else fired.

The following list looks at just five WWE stars responsible for getting another Superstar fired either directly or indirectly.

#5 WWE Hall of Famer Booker T got an unnamed star fired

WWE Hall of Famer Booker T has become a regular face on WWE TV in recent years. He has been able to join the pre-show panel on pay-per-views on a regular basis.

Booker also has a certain amount of swag backstage as a two-time WWE Hall of Famer. He recently told Chris Van Vliet a story about how he told a fellow Superstar to dress in a different locker room and it ended up getting him fired.

"I got invited into the TV locker room. I didn’t just go and dress in the TV locker room. I remember a guy, not too long ago, a couple years back and I’m not gonna say his name. But he lasted in WWE about a year or so. You’ll be able to figure it out, and he was in the TV locker room and I’m wondering in my mind, ‘What the hell is he doing in the TV locker room?’ He’s hanging out in there with us, he’s kicking it and whatnot and I told him — he was talking to me about the guys in the other locker room and I was like, ‘Man, forget those guys man. Dress over here man. I mean, who are those guys to tell you where to dress?’ And all I was doing was stirring the pot. He didn’t know I was getting him in more trouble and then they ended up firing his a*s and you know what He didn’t know why he got fired."

Booker T didn't confirm who the Superstar was that he gave the advice to, but inadvertently it appears that his advice cost him his employment with WWE.

#4 John Cena got fellow WWE star Kenny Dykstra fired

Mickie James has returned to WWE in recent years and is now considered to be a legend within the company. However, the former Women's Champion was fired from the company back in 2012 off the back of a controversial back and forth with John Cena and her fiance Kenny Dykstra.

Dykstra found out about a relationship between James and Cena and revealed back in 2012 that he was transferred to SmackDown because of the affair. Dykstra and James were engaged at the time and he was later fired from the company after being jobbed out for a number of weeks.

"He was messing with MJ so I got moved to Smackdown so they could further mess. I jobbed, got fired. When MJ got crazy because he wouldn't date her, she then got fired. Weird biz huh? She got title, on TV show while with him. Serves her well though."

Dykstra has returned to WWE since being fired and was part of an angle with Dolph Ziggler on SmackDown back in 2016. This wasn't a lengthy deal though and he later returned to his day job.

#3 Randy Orton got fellow WWE star Mr. Kennedy fired

Accidents happen all the time in a WWE ring and sometimes Superstars are injured when this happens. Back in 2009, Mr. Kennedy was coming off the back of a long layoff following a dislocated shoulder and was put in a 10-man tag match on Monday Night RAW.

The Viper was part of that match and Kennedy delivered a botched belly-to-belly suplex to Randy Orton mid-way through the bout. It was seemingly enough to get him fired from WWE.

"Randy jumped really, really hard. In wrestling, it’s give and take. It was a matter of either I drop him on his head, or I help him through this. His neck never even touched the mat, which makes me wonder why he even went to the trainer’s room to get his neck taped up. He was so injured that he went on to wrestle three nights in Mexico."

Following the match, Orton headed to the back and spoke to WWE officials about Mr. Kennedy being dangerous in the ring. That was seemingly enough for the star to be given his release papers just four days later.

#2 Ric Flair got fellow WWE star Jim Ross fired

Ric Flair is a WWE Hall of Famer, but back in 2013 the former 16-time World Champion was still grieving the loss of his son Reid. He was reportedly drinking while continuing some of his work commitments.

One of these commitments was to be part of the WWE2K14 panel which was hosted by fellow Hall of Famer Jim Ross. While under the influence of alcohol, Flair told several stories at the event that shouldn't have been revealed publicly and Ross was unable to maintain professionalism throughout.

Jim Ross was unable to stop Flair and according to The Wrestling Observer, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon was reportedly unhappy with this and fired Ross as a result.

"A few weeks ago, Ross had hosted the WWE 2K14 symposium, a yearly promotional thing for a video game. But once Ric Flair started talking, he didn’t stop and took over the show, Flair entertained the audience with funny stories, like how wrestler John Cena doesn't have to do cardio. Then it got a little dicey, like when he mentioned Cena was once a teetotaler. [He] said 'good luck with that'," Flair said, indicating that one might rely on alcohol in the world of professional wrestling, and then noting that Cena drinks a lot now."

Jim Ross has since become the voice of All Elite Wrestling and has made several returns to WWE in the past.

#1 Edge got fellow WWE Superstar Matt Hardy fired

The love triangle surrounding Edge, Matt Hardy, and Lita has become a wrestling legend but even though it was later turned into a WWE storyline, some real people were hurt at the time.

Matt Hardy was written off WWE TV back in 2005 when he suffered an injury and Lita was then aligned with Edge. The two stars became much closer than co-workers and when Hardy found out, he began venting his issues online which didn't land him in a favorable position with WWE.

The decision was made to terminate Hardy's contract since WWE officials were worried that there could be a few issues with Edge in the WWE locker room following the affair.

The WWE Universe was not pleased with WWE following the decision and pushed for him to be rehired, which he was a few weeks later. Hardy's revenge was then made into a storyline with Edge that year which culminated in a Loser Leaves RAW ladder match in 2005.

Luckily, both Hardy and Edge have since gone on to have illustrious wrestling careers and this entire story is now just a distant memory.
