The WWE Creative works hard day in and day out in order to give the best storylines and feuds to the WWE Universe. The team builds these feuds on weekly episodes of RAW and SmackDown Live, before giving a finale to that feud on a pay-per-view.

WWE has been trying to reduce the number of PPVs because of the fact that the year 2017 saw a lot of fans getting bored due to the same monotonous feuds going on for months with multiple PPV matches. WWE corrected their mistake and now have been working on giving quality content to the fans.

However, the WWE Creative had to alter their main plans due to injuries or had to change some matches because of better alternatives in the year 2018. Here are the 5 matches that the WWE cancelled in 2018:

#5 - Ronda Rousey vs Becky Lynch - Survivor Series 2018

Back in November 2018, WWE built a solid rivalry between RAW Women's Champion Ronda Rousey and SD Live Women's Champion, Becky Lynch. The two champions were set to lock horns in a much-awaited match-up at Survivor Series. However, the Irish Lasskicker had to be pulled out of the match due to an unfortunate injury she suffered during her RAW invasion.

Nia Jax's botch cost Becky Lynch her place in that match as Charlotte Flair replaced her at Survivor Series later. But, the WWE Creative saw the amount of potential this feud had and so decided to allow the Royal Rumble victory to Becky Lynch. Last night on RAW, Becky Lynch informed that she will be challenging the RAW Women's Champion Ronda Rousey for the title at WrestleMania as the fans will finally get the match they wanted to see on the grandest stage.

#4 - The Undertaker vs Chris Jericho - Greatest Royal Rumble

WWE made sure that they go all out in their first show in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Greatest Royal Rumble. They announced a 50-man Royal Rumble match for the show's main event and also announced a match between John Cena and Triple H for the event. To make things more exciting, they announced a casket match between The Undertaker and Rusev for the show.

However, Rusev was pulled out of the match after a few days as Chris Jericho was chosen to replace the Bulgarian Brute in that match-up. But, the fans were deprived of this dream match as Rusev took back his position in the match once again as he went on to challenge the Undertaker at the Greatest Royal Rumble PPV in April 2018.

#3 - John Cena vs Kevin Owens - WWE Super Show Down

Just like the Greatest Royal Rumble PPV, WWE decided to go all out in their first ever Australian PPV, WWE SuperShow Down. They announced a "Last Time Ever" match between Triple H and the Undertaker for the show and even announced a singles match between John Cena and Kevin Owens for the event.

However, a few days later this singles match was converted into a tag team match as Elias joined hands with Kevin Owens to take on the team of John Cena and Bobby Lashley. The reason behind this change could have been John Cena's fitness issues as the 16-time World Champion only performed his signature moves in the match, something that would not have been possible had that match been a singles' match against Kevin Owens.

#2 - Roman Reigns vs Braun Strowman vs Brock Lesnar - Universal Championship Triple Threat Match - WWE Crown Jewel

During the month of November last year, WWE hosted another PPV in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This PPV's was named Crown Jewel and the company announced 2 big match-ups for the show in the WWE World Cup and the Universal Championship triple threat match between Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman.

However, the Universal Champion, Roman Reigns had to be withdrawn from this match due to Leukemia as the match later became a singles match between Lesnar and the Monster amongst men for the vacant Universal title. Brock Lesnar went on to win that match thanks to interference from Baron Corbin. But, the WWE Universe did not get a dream triple threat match between Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman at Crown Jewel.

#1 - AJ Styles vs Daniel Bryan - WWE Championship, WWE Crown Jewel

Daniel Bryan became the new #1 contender for AJ Styles' WWE Championship ahead of the Crown Jewel and the fans were set to witness an epic singles match between two of the best in-ring performers of all time at Crown Jewel. However, the Bearded G.O.A.T decided to pull out of the event due to some political tensions between U.S.A and Saudi Arabia.

The duo clashed in a WWE title match on the SD Live episode before the Saudi Arabia show which saw AJ Styles retain his championship. The Phenomenal One, however, defended the belt on Crown Jewel but against an old rival in Samoa Joe.
