5 Reasons why Dolph Ziggler should defeat Goldberg at WWE SummerSlam 2019

Around two months ago, WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg made his return to the squared circle, two years after his WrestleMania 33 loss to Brock Lesnar.

Goldberg took on The Undertaker at Super ShowDown in Saudi Arabia, in what many deemed as one of the worst matches of the year.

The bout was filled with botches from both ends, and the finish saw The Undertaker hitting a terrible looking Chokeslam on Goldberg and pinning him.

It seems like Goldberg wants to right the wrong that was Super ShowDown, as he has come back again to have a match at The Biggest Party of the Summer.

This Monday on RAW, Goldberg signed the papers for a match against Dolph Ziggler at this Sunday's SummerSlam PPV.

Many are expecting this clash to be a quick squash, but there are a few, including WWE Hall of Famer X-Pac, who think that Goldberg should put over Dolph Ziggler. Here are five reasons why Dolph Ziggler should defeat Goldberg this Sunday.

Ever since the rumors surrounding this match began floating around, the WWE Universe speculated on what would happen if Ziggler went on to face Goldberg at SummerSlam. The majority of fans are of the opinion that Goldberg will squash Ziggler in a matter of seconds, and be done with it.

Imagine the shocker that WWE could pull off here, if they decide to let Dolph Ziggler pin Goldberg at one of the biggest PPVs of the year!

Whether it happens after Ziggler uses some underhand methods on an unsuspecting Goldberg, The Showoff's victory is bound to get a huge pop from the live crowd, as well as the millions watching at home.

#4 Goldberg only needs a good match, not a win

It's not a secret that the Super ShowDown fiasco bothered Goldberg to no end. He even went on to apologize to the fans on Twitter soon after the match was done and dusted with.

It seems like this return could be a way for Goldberg to do some damage control, so that the fans won't remember his final match as being a total disaster, down the line.

Dolph Ziggler is someone who is fully capable of getting a good match out of almost any wrestler. A 10-minute back-and-forth between Goldberg and the incredibly agile Ziggler would be an excellent way to go about this match, with The Showoff somehow managing to score a pin in the end.

If this is Goldberg's final match in WWE, his exit will always be remembered as an impressive one (contrary to the travesty that was Super ShowDown) and a win over would benefit Ziggler too. This would be a win-win situation for both Superstars.

#3 Dolph Ziggler needs it more than Goldberg

Goldberg has been a part of the pro-wrestling business since the 90s. He enjoyed an incredible run in WCW, with his 173-match undefeated streak becoming the highlight of his career. He made his WWE debut in 2003, on the night after WrestleMania 19. Goldberg's first match in WWE saw him defeat The Rock, while his exit match at WrestleMania 20 resulted in Brock Lesnar being put down with a Jackhammer.

Goldberg's second WWE run bagged him a short-lived Universal title run. He already has a long list of accomplishments on his resume. There's absolutely nothing that needs to be added to it.

On the other hand, Dolph Ziggler is someone who has tons of promise, but hasn't been used to his fullest potential throughout his WWE run.

WWE has a great opportunity to make a star out of Ziggler here, who will wrestle in the company for years to come, unlike Goldberg.

What if WWE decides to capitalize on it, and uses Riddle's Twitter jibes as a way to bring him up to the main roster.

Goldberg has had his fair share of victories throughout his WWE career. It's time to give back to the business, as X-Pac recently said. The match could end with Riddle interfering and costing The Icon his match, which sets up Goldberg vs Riddle at a future PPV. It can act as a launchpad for Riddle if he can get a win over Goldberg.

#1 Goldberg will be hailed for putting over a young talent

Goldberg's career has been marred with controversies surrounding the fact that he rarely put over young talent.

The fact is that Goldberg was pushed as a legit monster babyface from the very beginning, and this forced the promoters in both WCW and WWE to use him carefully. This resulted in Goldberg rarely losing a match, with most of his losses being due to the use of foreign objects and outside interference.

If Goldberg decides to put over Ziggler at SummerSlam and WWE agrees to the idea, this will not only give a big boost to The Showoff's waning career. It will also result in Goldberg garnering respect from the WWE Universe and wrestling personalities.

Putting over a younger talent is the right way to go, and the fans will always remember Goldberg for selflessly giving a rub to Ziggler on his way out, if this turns out to be his final match.
