5 Superstars that held multiple titles at the same time

These champions are dripping in gold.
These champions are dripping in gold.

Wrestling is a massively popular form of entertainment that attracts fans for different reasons. Whether it is due to the wacky narratives on display, or the car crash action that keeps you on the edge of your seat, the fact of the matter is that wrestling can never really bore you.

The reason why wrestling will never be boring is due to the fact that there is a point to the sport, and that is the goal of becoming a champion. If there were one thing that every wrestling fan wished they could have, it would be the chance to call themselves champion.

There is genuinely something special about those gold plated titles that our favorite heels and faces carry around, as those belts are the main reason why millions of people tune into WWE TV every single week. So, today, let's go through some of the wrestlers that had the chance to hold more than one of these shiny gold championships at the same time.

#5 Rob Van Dam

Who would've thought that RVD would be WWE Champion?
Who would've thought that RVD would be WWE Champion?

The height of Rob Van Dam's career was undoubtedly from 2005 to 2007, when he was one of the hottest prospects in wrestling. RVD was a top priority for WWE at the time, as his 2006 Money in the Bank win signified that the company had big things planned for the ECW Original.

And big things followed, as Van Dam went on to win the WWE Title by defeating John Cena at the now infamous ECW One Night Stand pay-per-view in 2006.

While Paul Heyman (who was the GM of ECW at the time) wanted the WWE Title to become the new ECW World Championship, Van Dam refused the idea, as he stated that he wanted to defend the WWE Title and newly reinstated ECW World Title separately. He also wanted the WWE Championship because "this one spins".

That made RVD the only wrestler in WWE history to hold both the WWE and ECW World Titles simultaneously. However, RVD had his time at the top cut short, as WWE suspended him for 30 days after he was found guilty for possessing drugs. This was a shame given how red hot RVD was at the time.

#4 Shawn Michaels

What else can we say about Shawn Michaels that hasn't been said before? The Heartbreak Kid was possibly the best wrestler to ever step foot inside the squared circle, as every single one of his matches was immaculate from a technical perspective.

Moreover, when you think about the pageantry side of wrestling, Michaels pops up there as a professional that excelled at keeping the WWE Universe entertained. Fans and critics revere HBK, and when you talk about his accomplishments in the industry, it's not hard to see why his colleges respected him too.

From winning multiple Royal Rumble matches to main eventing numerous Wrestlemanias, one of HBK's lesser appreciated achievements was being a dual champion. Michaels partnership with Diesel (Kevin Nash) back in the 90s spelt success for the two megastars, as they captured the WWE Tag Team Titles and IC Title at the same time.

Moreover, this was not the last time Michaels held two titles, as HBK would climb to the top once again when he held both the European and WWE Titles. And everyone remembers the controversial way Michaels won the WWE Title back in 1997 against a departing Bret Hart.

#3 Paige

AJ Lee and Paige brought about the revolution of women's wrestling.

It was unfortunate that Paige's wrestling career had to be cut short after she suffered a serious neck injury. Even though Paige's time in a wrestling ring may have been short, her contribution to women's wrestling in the company will always be memorable.

Paige's battles with the likes of Emma, Natalya, and AJ Lee are what made people take notice of the evolution NXT's upstarts were bringing about in the company. During this time, fans saw Paige capture the first-ever NXT Women's Title when she beat Emma in the finals of a tournament, and she wouldn't stop there.

WWE chose the night after WrestleMania to introduce Paige to the world, as the NXT Women's Champion beat AJ Lee to become the Divas Champion that same night. While Paige had to vacate the NXT Women's Title due to her main roster call up, holding both titles at the same time was an impressive stat created by "The Anti-Diva".

#2 The Miz

Anyone else remembers the formidable pairing of ShoMiz?
Anyone else remembers the formidable pairing of ShoMiz?

When The Miz first burst onto the scene back in 2006, the WWE Universe hated the man. Therefore, it took years for Miz to find his place in the company, as he had to endure many years of just being an afterthought in the mid-card division.

However, things started to change for Miz in 2009, when he ditched his former partner John Morrison and went solo. The Miz would then go on a pursuit of the US Title, which he finally won on an episode of Raw, and things only got better for "The A-Lister" from there.

After allying himself with The Big Show, Miz would go on to capture the Unified WWE World Tag Team Titles, and this made The Miz the first triple crown champion in WWE history. From that point onward, Miz would go on to win numerous other championships and solidify his place as one of the best heels of this era.

#1 Seth Rollins

Rollins is familiar with holding multiple titles.

Seth Rollins may be the most controversial figure in WWE right now, as the WWE Universe has different opinions when it comes to the Universal Champion. One half of WWE's fanbase is tired of Rollins' babyface run, while the other half is happy to see him at the top of the food chain.

Now, while the fans views differ on this topic, at least we can appreciate the fact that we have a champion that is present on Raw every week. After Rollins won the Raw Tag Team Titles this week on the flagship show with Braun Strowman, fans should get used to seeing a whole lot more of "The Man".

Rollins is no stranger to holding multiple titles at once as everyone remembers the classic he contested with John Cena at SummerSlam 2015. That victory over Cena saw Rollins hold both the US and WWE Title at the same time, and that record still stands to this day.

Obviously, this is no means an exhaustive list of dual champions - there have been plenty more! Who are some of your favorite double champs? Lets get a conversation going in the comments below! Thanks for reading!
