Goldberg and Reigns could have the ultimate WWE dream face-off
Goldberg and Reigns could have the ultimate WWE dream face-off

As we strap ourselves in and drive towards WrestleMania and beyond, one has to bear in mind that this is the most important stretch of the whole year. And this means that WWE will be pulling out all of the big guns before WrestleMania comes around.

With that in mind, I bring you 5 surprises that could potentially take place on this week's show. Be sure to leave a comment and let me know if you think that one or more of the following could transpire.

The most exciting thing about this week's show is the return of Goldberg, and this is why he will be the central focus of this article. Whatever you may feel about the man, it is impossible to deny that he's certainly a very big deal in WWE.

When he returns to action, the world pays heed.

#5 Goldberg calls Roman Reigns out

Goldberg and Roman Reigns have previously faced off in the middle of the ring as can be seen from the picture at the very top. However, they haven't had a singles match year and it would be very interesting to see which 'master of the spear' comes out on top when the titans clash. Both men lose very seldom and therefore, a clash between them would certainly be a Super ShowDown.

I think both men could afford to lose the contest and not lose any of their steam. I do believe that Roman Reigns may finally be done with his feud with King Corbin and it may be time for him to move on to someone like Goldberg, ahead of a possible feud with The Fiend at WrestleMania.

This week, Goldberg could ask someone in the locker room to show up. And then, The Big Dog could answer the challenge.

Before we move on to the next slide, gear up by listening to the latest episode of Dropkick DiSKussions, where our experts Tom Colohue and Korey Gunz discuss all the hottest WWE news and rumors of the week

#4 The Firefly Fun House features a Goldberg doll

One of the matches that everyone seems to be talking about is a dream confrontation between Goldberg and The Fiend. Honestly, if this is the route that WWE wants to go down, it would make a lot of sense because it is impossible to predict a winner in this particular match.

Also, if Goldberg were to put The Fiend over, having him kick out of a Spear and a Jackhammer during the contest, it would certainly add to the myth of The Fiend, establishing him as a figure that simply cannot be pinned. I don't think if you consider everything that's been happening with Bray Wyatt and his new character in recent times, that WWE will allow him to eat a pin if there's a match in Saudi Arabia.

But that is for later, and this week, while Goldberg is in the ring, we could see an episode of The Firefly Fun House playing on the big screen. It would effectively signal the end of the Daniel Bryan feud.

#3 Goldberg is assaulted by a popular NXT star

Not long ago, Sportskeeda's own Gary Cassidy had caught up with the 'original bro', Matt Riddle, in an exclusive interview where they spoke, among other things, about the legendary Goldberg. The NXT star has been very critical of Goldberg as a performer and it is very clear that he wants a feud with him.

And because WWE says that it listens to fans, I wouldn't be surprised if Riddle were to sneak up from behind and assault Goldberg. We've seen several NXT stars make the transition to RAW and SmackDown, and one has to admit that Matt Riddle is more than ready for the bright lights of SmackDown.

Even if Goldberg were to obliterate him in Saudi Arabia, it would certainly be a very big step up for Matt Riddle. It would certainly be the biggest feud of his life.

One wonders if Vince McMahon and Bruce Prichard agree that a program between Matt Riddle and Goldberg is the way to go, considering that both competitors are from very different worlds.

#2 The Kabuki Warriors surprisingly show up on WWE SmackDown to assault their challengers

Gary Cassidy of Sportskeeda was recently invited to a BT Sport event in the United Kingdom, where he had a chance to interact with the who's who from the professional wrestling world. One of his interviews was with Paige, someone who's retired from the ring but is still very much a part of the WWE family. And during the course of the interview, Nikki Cross would also jump in at certain times, with her trademark bubbly enthusiasm.

Paige was the manager of the Kabuki Warriors and she speaks about the women's tag team championship picture in the video above. With Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross pretty much assured of being next in line to face Asuka and Kairi Sane, I can imagine the heels assaulting the babyfaces on this show. There is no hype around the Women's Tag Team Division and truth be told, it needs to be rebuilt from the ground up.

So maybe the Champions lay their opponents out, this week!

#1 Dolph Ziggler attacks Otis

As much as the wrestling fanbase across the world has grown to fall in love with Otis and Heavy Machinery since their stint in the 'main roster', so to speak, they must have all been jealous of the fact that he has a date with Mandy Rose this Valentine's Day. And I don't see why this sense of jealousy should not pervade into the SmackDown locker room as well.

Dolph Ziggler is someone who has made his intentions towards Mandy Rose very clear in recent times. I can totally imagine him taking Otis out this week, and telling Rose that Otis will not be able to make it in time for their date, so he could take her out instead.

As ridiculous as this scenario may sound, think back to everything you've seen in the world of wrestling as ask yourself if it is indeed as ridiculous as some other legendary segments. I can totally imagine it playing out in this manner.

And if this is indeed the case, poor Otis!
