I can foresee a few interesting surprises on WWE SmackDown

The build to Survivor Series has taken us on a very intriguing journey thus far and I can only imagine it becoming even more so as the event draws ever nearer. Last week's episode of SmackDown was filled with surprises and this week's edition could be just as exciting, after the surprises we witnessed on RAW.

So what could we potentially see on WWE SmackDown? In this article, I shall list out 5 surprises that could take place and I invite you to leave a comment and let me know if you would like to see them transpire or not.

I am certain that NXT will continue to invade both the Red brand and the Blue brand over the coming weeks. With that in mind, let us get straight into the heart of the matter and begin this article.

As always, I invite you to rate the best matches of the week right here.

#5 Braun Strowman is confronted by Keith Lee

So where does Braun Strowman go after his crippling loss to Tyson Fury at Crown Jewel? There are very few men who believably measure up to the 'Monster Among Men', but one man who does is named Keith Lee from WWE NXT. If you thought that Braun Strowman was agile for a big man, I recommend that you watch a Keith Lee match as well.

I can absolutely see these two bulls clashing at Survivor Series either in a singles match or even in a 5-on-5 environment where they slug it out to establish who the best big man in wrestling is. Knowing the work ethic of both men, it is certain to be a very good match.

Lee may not be as big as Braun Strowman is. He certainly is as dangerous.

#4 Matt Riddle gets an Intercontinental Championship opportunity against Nakamura

Sami Zayn has been a loyal friend and mouthpiece for Shinsuke Nakamura over the past few weeks, even putting his own ambitions to the side to get the former 'King of Strong Style' over with fans. And while Shinsuke Nakamura was overseas, we saw NXT invade the main roster and two men, particularly Keith Lee and Matt Riddle lay waste to Sami Zayn. I wonder if that could potentially earn Matt Riddle an Intercontinental Championship opportunity.

While nobody's doubting Shinsuke Nakamura's ability in the ring, one unfortunate thing that has happened in the recent past is that the Intercontinental Championship picture hasn't been as red-hot as WWE would have liked it to be. But then just the idea of Matt Riddle taking on Shinsuke Nakamura can add a brand new dimension to the whole picture. It is an exciting match that we have never seen before and it can elevate the NXT Superstar and also the Intercontinental Championship to brand new heights.

I would go as far as to say that this may be a more exciting match than Seth Rollins vs. Adam Cole that we witnessed on RAW.

#3 The Firefly Fun House has a special guest- The Velveteen Dream

So, one thing that we know for sure is that contrary to rumors that had surfaced, the Firefly Fun House does not seem to be going anywhere at all. In fact, it's definitely going to be a major part of The Fiend's presentation in the months to follow.

At its very core, the nature of WWE lies in its interactions between its most unlikely characters, and it does not get more eccentric and eclectic than Bray Wyatt and The Velveteen Dream, does it now? We know that the Firefly Fun House exists in the mortal realm, because Seth Rollins was able to burn it down, so The Velveteen Dream could always arrive as a guest.

Imagine the interaction that Dream could potentially have with Bray Wyatt and all the puppets of the Firefly Fun House if he were to show up. We know that The Fiend is not going to be taking on Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series, and this could certainly be a great feud instead.

Imagine the mind games that these two characters could potentially play with one another if this feud and also this very segment came to pass...

#2 Bayley and Sasha Banks take on two of the Horsewomen

We know that we're most likely not going to get a one-on-one match between Bayley and Shayna Baszler before Survivor Series comes around, right? But then again, do remember that Bayley has backup in Sasha Banks, who's proved to be a great Robin to her Batman thus far. So does Shayna Baszler in Marina Shafir and of course, Jessamyn Duke.

I have a feeling that we could potentially see Bayley and Sasha Banks take on two of the Horsewomen this week on WWE SmackDown. It would be a great main roster experience for Duke and Shafir who've been little more than developmental talent thus far. It also allows for Bayley and Sasha Banks to potentially invade NXT, and the two women have been very vocal about how partial they are to the black and yellow brand, so they aren't really opposed to such a plan, are they?

Of course, we could also see a match between Shayna Baszler and Sasha Banks on SmackDown but I just think it's too big a match to give away on free TV. We'll just have to wait and see what the plan for SmackDown is.

#1 RAW invades the main event

And lest we forget, NXT isn't the only brand which is going to be a part of the Survivor Series build. RAW is also at war with SmackDown and the brand could certainly make its presence felt with a melee before the show goes off the air.

Roman Reigns and Baron Corbin are scheduled to go to war and this could certainly be the case before we see members of the RAW locker room emerging from the stands and walking down to the ringside area to assault. This could be the way WWE extends this feud because we wouldn't have a conclusive winner by the end of the night thanks to the interference.

And maybe NXT joins the fray as well and for the first time, we see members of RAW, SmackDown, as well as NXT going at it in an all-out war, as SmackDown goes off the air. It will really be a taste of things to come at Survivor Series 2019.

I must say that the build to the show thus far has been very entertaining.
