5 Surprises that could happen on WWE SmackDown: RAW star arrives, New feud begins

SmackDown has had a change of guard backstage with Bruce Prichard replacing Eric Bischoff as the current Executive Director. In this article, we shall list out 5 surprises that could potentially happen on this week's show.

While the shows have been interesting, the viewership has declined massively since the first week. It just goes to show that nobody is as big a draw as The Rock is and that both Prichard and McMahon have a monumental task with regard to building new stars.

More than specific character traits, one tends to remember memorable moments that characters are associated with. So, what memorable moments could happen when SmackDown comes to FS1 for one night only?

Here are 5 interesting things that we could potentially see transpire for sure!

#5 Seth Rollins attacks Bray Wyatt inside the Firefly Fun House again

Something that has bothered me about the draft is the fact that the Seth Rollins vs. Bray Wyatt feud has continued well beyond the split, with the two men going to two separate brands. One of the rumors that had emerged after Bray Wyatt was drafted to FOX was that the Firefly Fun House would be canceled, but thankfully, such was not the case as it was announced on RAW that the Firefly Fun House would be making a big return.

There would be no point to not have The Fiend and Rollins interact before their big match and I want Rollins to show up at the Firefly Fun House once again, to try and burn the whole place down. But this time, The Fiend could be around and Wyatt could be prepared for Seth Rollins trying to get the better of him. If this does not happen and the two men remain on their respective brands, I'd quite honestly deem it a wasted opportunity.

#4 Baron Corbin blindsides Roman Reigns

One thing that's for sure is that there will be mini-stories told that lead to the big Team Flair vs. Team Hogan clash at Crown Jewel. Just like how Bobby Lashley and Rusev can't stand one another, there will also be a feud between Roman Reigns and King Corbin, that will eventually feed into the big pay-per-view match. We already saw the seeds for this upcoming feud being planted on last week's show.

And now, to take the feud to the next level, Roman Reigns could be in the back cutting a promo when King Corbin could attack Roman Reigns with his sceptre. It would effectively mean that Corbin and Shorty G will not have to fight one another for the fifteen thousandth time. King Corbin's 'King of the Ring' win should effectively launch him into the main-event status and there's no better way to achieve this than to have Corbin take down the man who's arguably the biggest star in the company at present.

Imagine how much more we would be invested in the Team Hogan vs. Team Flair match, if Roman Reigns came out literally unleashed, out for retribution and revenge!

#3 Dissent among members of Team Flair

Babyfaces and heels are both gunning for the same prize. In the world of kayfabe, a champion takes home a lot more money than someone who doesn't hold gold.

This is why everyone in Team Flair will probably be vying for the Intercontinental Championship, none more so than King Corbin, who probably believes that he has a rightful claim to the title as the reigning and defending King of the Ring. I have no idea whether this sub-plot will happen, but if it does, it could sow the seeds for an interesting long-term program, in my opinion.

At this point in time, I'm guessing that Daniel Bryan will be the next person to get a title shot against Nakamura. But a prospective battle against Corbin allows for one of the two men, most likely Nakamura to turn face somewhere down the line and get a chance to do all the flashy moves that he had to relinquish as a heel.

Maybe we will finally get the version of Nakamura that we were promised in NXT before he came up to the main roster and became just a shadow of the man we wanted.

#2 Alexa Bliss is upset at Nikki Cross' opportunity

A lot of us didn't think that Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross would last for as long as they did as a tag team unit. But the unlikely duo did coexist and we've reached such a situation where it's odd to not see them as the reigning and defending Tag Team Champions. But as it stands, Nikki Cross is the Number 1 contender who has a title shot against Bayley up next.

Now one thing we know for sure is that Alexa Bliss has always been the star of the group with Nikki Cross as her sidekick until now. Bliss may not take too kindly to Nikki Cross getting a title opportunity before her. And this could potentially lead to the dissolution of the group with Alexa Bliss getting upset with her friend, which eventually leads to a program between the two coffee-drinking women.

Personally, I would like to see this storyline play out for a few weeks before the turn eventually happens. Alexa Bliss vs. Nikki Cross is a big-time match and it should happen on pay-per-view at a big stage like The Royal Rumble or even WrestleMania, in my opinion.

#1 Velasquez and Lesnar get into a big-time scuffle, Fury, and Strowman join in

WWE has been building the whole Velasquez vs. Lesnar fight like it's a big-time MMA bout, ahead of the Crown Jewel clash. The two men have been advertised in a face to face appearance this week, and as is always the case in WWE, things are sure to spiral out of control almost at once.

I think this will be yet another one of those situations where security tries to contain the men but they get beaten up in the process of doing so, after what is essentially a brutal clash. The locker room is likely to empty out and will hold the two men apart so that we don't get to see who comes out on top in this situation.

And maybe Tyson Fury and Braun Strowman get involved in the melee too. AEW goes off the air with an all-out scuffle lot of times, and it is definitely a great advertisement for the following week's action, in my opinion.

If you're a wrestling fan, chances are that you long to see four big bulls squaring off against each other.
