John Cena recently opened up on his status for WrestleMania 37, and his fans are going to be disappointed with what the 16-time World Champion had to say. Cena made it clear that he is currently busy filming Peacemaker. He also added that travel restrictions would prevent him from making it to WrestleMania this year. Here's John Cena's full comment on his WrestleMania 37 status:

"It's very difficult to say because I know it's going to be disappointing for a lot of people, but according to the letter of regulation right now, there is no mathematical way I can be at WrestleMania this year."

John Cena made his first-ever WrestleMania appearance way back in 2003. Ever since then, Cena has appeared at every single WrestleMania, and this will be the first time he won't be a part of The Grandest Stage Of Them All, if he doesn't show up. Cena has been a part of a whopping 18 WrestleMania events, and has done a bunch of incredible things at the event. In the following list, we will take a look back at five things John Cena did at The Show of Shows, that left fans surprised.


#5 John Cena comes out to save The Rock from The Wyatt Family

At WrestleMania 32, John Cena wasn't scheduled for a match, much to his fans' disappointment. Cena had wrestled at every single WrestleMania since his first outing against Big Show at the 20th edition of the event in 2004, and him not being a part of the show was a pretty big deal at that time. Little did fans know that John Cena had a surprise for them. In the midst of the event, The Rock was interrupted by The Wyatt Family. After The Rock defeated Erick Rowan in a matter of seconds, it looked like he was going to get destroyed by the villains.

Suddenly, John Cena's music hit to a loud pop

The sea of 100,000+ fans cheered in unison, as John Cena made is way to the ring. And just like that, the former WWE Champion was out there, in the middle of the ring at a WrestleMania. Cena and The Rock acting as a united force against The Wyatt Family wasn't something that fans had ever expected to see. Cena and The Rock made quick work of Bray Wyatt and his lackeys, and celebrated in the ring to a big ovation.

#4 John Cena gives the worst WrestleMania performance of his career

As WrestleMania 34 approached closer, John Cena hinted that he would attend the event as a fan, but then made it known that he wanted The Undertaker at The Show of Shows. The Deadman didn't answer John Cena's challenge, and Cena began getting desperate as WrestleMania was almost on the horizon. Cena stated that The Undertaker himself was preventing the match from happening, and added that he's mad at the WWE legend for not responding to his challenge.

John Cena finally got his wish at WrestleMania

John Cena was surprised when Elias came out instead of The Undertaker. Cena attacked Elias, and was set to leave when the lights went out. Minutes later, the match had been made official. In his worst WrestleMania performance, John Cena lost to The Undertaker in less than three minutes. Cena is a 16-time World Champion, and is usually mentioned as one of the greatest ever to step foot in the ring. Fans couldn't believe their eyes when they saw Cena getting squashed like an enhancement talent in a matter of minutes.

John Cena had another confrontation with Elias a year later, at WrestleMania 35. This time around, it was Cena who decided to confront Elias, and he had a big surprise for the WWE Universe this time around. Elias kicked off his WrestleMania concert, which had been promoted for weeks on end on the road to the event. He was interrupted by a Babe Ruth video package, followed by which John Cena came out to a huge pop from the fans in attendance.

John Cena's gear sent fans on a nostalgic trip

John Cena was sporting his Thugonomics gear, which he had popularized back in 2002-05. Cena threw a barrage of insults at Elias, and then attacked him with a thunderous Attitude Adjustment. Longtime fans of John Cena were delighted to see him donning his old gimmick, which initially turned him into a top star on WWE SmackDown. Although many fans would have preferred to have John Cena wrestle Kurt Angle in the latter's retirement match, they were glad to see The Dr. of Thugonomics make a return on that night.

#2 John Cena dons the nWo gear during his bizarre outing with Bray Wyatt

On the road to WrestleMania 36, John Cena was challenged to a match by The Fiend, shortly after the latter lost his Universal title to Goldberg at Super ShowDown 2020. Cena accepted the challenge, but he had no idea what was in store for him at WrestleMania. At The Show of Shows, John Cena and Wyatt engaged in a Firefly Fun House match, which was basically Wyatt playing with Cena's mind and taking him on a trip down memory lane using a bunch of dream sequences.

John Cena had never faced such an opponent

John Cena has wrestled the best, and has beaten them all, but Bray Wyatt's mind games were too much for him on that night. At one point during the match, Cena was transported to the late 90s, on Monday Nitro. Bray Wyatt, acting as Eric Bischoff, introduced John Cena, who was playing the role of Hollywood Hogan. Fans were taken aback when they saw Cena wearing the nWo garb. This certainly wasn't a visual anyone had expected to ever see.

#1 John Cena lifts Edge and Big Show at the same time

At WrestleMania 25, John Cena met Edge and Big Show in a Triple Threat match for Edge's World title. Cena came out to the ring in one of the greatest WrestleMania entrances of all time, with several John Cena look-alikes standing on both sides of the entrance ramp, while he sprinted towards the squared circle. The match was a hard-hitting affair, with Edge and Show double-teaming John Cena at various points.

John Cena won the match in impressive fashion

During the final moments of the match, John Cena displayed one of the most impressive feats of strength the WWE Universe had ever seen, and lifted both Edge and Big Show for the Attitude Adjustment. Edge quickly dodged, but Cena ended up hitting Big Show with the move. Immediately after, Cena hit Edge with the AA, and dropped him on Big Show. This was enough for John Cena to score a win over Big Show, thus becoming the new World Champion. Cena was one of the most powerful entities in all of WWE at the time, but lifting two large men at the same time made fans realize just how physically gifted he was.
