#4 He was going to win the King of the Ring tournament

As we said earlier, McIntyre's injury didn't only cost him a push, it also altered WWE's plans of making him the King of the Ring 2019. The tournament was later won by Baron Corbin, who went on to defeat Shorty G in the finals. While this victory hasn't benefitted Corbin a lot, the same wouldn't have been the case with McIntyre.

"I have heard quite a few things over the process at the very beginning I heard, Drew McIntyre was going to be the guy, that obviously did not pan out," said Tom Colohue during Sportskeeda's Dropkick DiSKussions.

He's a different character than Corbin and WWE would likely have involved him a major program (more on this later).

#3 He was rumored to receive a Universal Championship shot before The Fiend

A few weeks ago, WrestleVotes reported that Seth Rollins' next challenger is going to be Drew McIntyre. We should note that this was before 'The Fiend' engaged in a rivalry with him. The plans, however, were changed and then, Bray Wyatt faced Rollins at Hell in a Cell.

Tom Colohue also reported the same and said that McIntyre would have challenged for the Universal Championship after winning the King of the Ring tournament, both of which didn't happen due to the injury.

"I’m hearing he was supposed to King of the Ring, get his championship opportunity right afterwards as an end result for winning the tournament," said Colohue.

Wyatt and Rollins are reportedly going to work until November, and we can expect McIntyre to challenge 'The Beastslayer' after he's done with 'The Fiend'.
